To tell you the truth, we were playing so well, I didn't think we would lose the game. [But] I liked our heart and our effort both nights. I liked our heart and our effort and our poise with the puck and our playmaking ability tonight.

We didn't execute they way we had been preparing to. Basketball is about effort and execution. The effort was there at times, the execution wasn't. I just felt like we were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. We didn't stick to our game plan. We didn't play like we practiced the last week.

We've relied on our effort level and our poise and we didn't have either one tonight. Our effort level in the first half was a big key. We did not have great effort and we needed to have great effort.

Some nights you don't know how the puck goes in sometimes. Tonight we didn't know how it didn't go in sometimes. When you're playing a game like this, it's fun. Every time you get the puck, you think you can do something.

I don't think we played with the heart and desire that we usually play with. We didn't come out and impose our will on this team. This league is strange like that, you look to come out and win every game but things happen. Some nights it doesn't go for you and tonight was one of those nights.

There's a lot we can take out of that game. We played with intensity and effort and for the most part we made the right decisions with the puck. Obviously, it's disappointing to lose in a shootout but it's that type of effort will take us where we need to go. Some nights she's on and she can win you a ballgame, and sometimes she's not on and she can lose you a ballgame. Tonight she was on. Tonight she played with extreme emotion and intensity and passion for the game, and I was very proud of her effort.

I was very pleased with our second-half effort. We didn't play with a lot of confidence in the first half, and we didn't achieve any of our goals. I saw them play with confidence and heart. They have been playing with heart all season, but tonight they had the confidence. They didn't give up when they got down and played hard in the second half to get back in the game.

It breaks my heart for Will. He's worked so hard to qualify for state, and he was so close. It's like a dagger in the heart, especially with all the time and effort he put into his game.

We ran the same offensive and defensive plays in the first six minutes as the rest of the game. We just started to play South Lenoir basketball. Tonight was just a good team effort. We showed a lot of heart tonight.

The score doesn't resemble our effort. I'm proud of our effort. In similar situations this year we've laid down and let them kick us. Tonight we didn't do that. We played together, and I feel with our effort tonight we could do well.
