Buffett came and sat ordsprog

en Buffett came and sat in with us the other night in Chicago. That was fun. He and I played 'A Pirate Looks at Forty,' one of his songs. We actually know each other pretty well now. We're definitely from the same breed -- guys who like to go on boats and surf and have a good time, so I don't mind being compared to him at all.

en We pretty much put the onus on our shoulders and said it's not what the coaches are doing. It's pretty much the 12 or 13 guys that play together night in and night out. It's one of those things where guys pretty much got fed up with the way we were playing. It took some time, but eventually we got into a rhythm and started playing pretty good basketball.

en It was a nice victory for the guys. Memorial is a big rival of ours and I thought our guys played pretty well. We had some lapses, but for the most part it was a pretty good night.

en I try not to keep in mind what's going on currently in music. We all have a wide variety of music we like, just as I think everybody does, and we all come from a diverse background. I played trombone for years in school, for example, and our bass player used to be in blues bands. I just try to keep in my mind what I think is good music. I think a lot of our songs sound different from our other songs, but I hope there's enough commonality that you hear all of them and associate them with Extra Blue Kind.

en I look at him as a surfing mentor. He put a lot of time into the young kids. He's one of the most surf-stoked guys I know. When surf's there, he's there. For me, the ultimate dream is to be a surfer for eternity, and he's on that path.

en I guess it was the big game with Chicago. At the time, Chicago was the No. 1 defense, being compared to the '85 Bears.

en Everyone pretty much stays on the General Jackson the whole time. We all get on the floor and dance to old songs like Love Shack and The Electric Slide ? these songs bring everyone together to have a good time.

en We played the set with Alex for the first time at midnight the night before [the Chicago concert]. Not exactly how I like to do things, but the only other alternative was to cancel more shows and I am NOT going to do that. I can't begin to tell you what a difficult job it is to replace your drummer in this band, and these guys have truly risen to the high-pressure situation that it is. Onward.

en He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. You cannot take away the fact that we're a fantastic live show band. No matter what anybody has to say about your recordings, I think people are pretty surprised sometimes when they come to see us that we not only have such a great body of songs to play for them but also we indulge in improvisation so much that the songs actually take on a life of their own from night to night. We never really repeat ourselves.

en Pirate fishing is a global threat to the oceans and those who depend upon them. We hear fine words from governments about tackling the problem – but if they were serious then we wouldn't need to be here and offer our ship to the Guinea authorities. The first thing that must be done is to close ports to pirate fishing boats, deny them access to markets and ensure that companies are prosecuted.

en It's a pretty good time -- if you don't mind giving up basically every Friday and Saturday night.

en It's just frustrating to lose, that's pretty much it. I thought we played better but I don't think our standard should be compared to the last game we played here. We played better than that but it's not good.

en We had a chance after Chicago to have a pretty good road trip against some pretty good teams. At a big time of the year, we pretty much blew that here.

en I was actually looking forward to going to the line 30 or 40 times. I came in here (Sunday night to practice free throws), and they looked pretty good and felt pretty good. Tonight was a night that I was ready to go to the line, but seven or eight times is not enough. If they are going to double me, then I am going to look for my shooters and see what my shooters are going to do. My guys are shooting the ball well. Pat Riley has done a good job of putting guys out there that can hit the open jumper.

en I thought the guys played a pretty good basketball game tonight. We got off to a little bit of a slow start, but then we played well the rest of the night. We did a lot of things well in the game.
