I was real timid last year, but this year I was asked to step, and that's what I know I have to do.

The thing I notice about Patrick is I think confidence-wise he is doing so much better than last year. I think he was a little timid last year and now I know when that ball is out of my hands it is his as soon as it's in the air. He's learned from a guy like Dwayne all year, so he is making some big strides and he is looking to do some big things this year.

Last year, I was so worried about my knee and my shoulder. I was kind of timid throwing the ball. This year, I just came in and the ball flew right out of my hand. I feel real good.

We have a lot of young players that can step up next year. We have the nucleus for a real good team. [The freshmen] learned a lot this year, got a lot of experience. They'll do much better next year.

We had 29 wins last year and 30 this year, and if somebody asked what the difference was I'd say Bruce Carter. He makes us better. He's unselfish, and he lets Weems step to the spotlight and let's Passos step to the spotlight a lot. Carter just does what he had to do.

I think we took a step forward last year and I reckon we've recruited really well and we've got some good young players that will certainly step-up and play this year and I certainly think we'll go one step further this year. We'll need some younger guys to step into that role next year. We'll definitely have to go big at times next year. But that's why the second half of this season is going to be so important. That's when the development of some players like (5-10 junior guard) James Davis will be key, because he'll be one of the guards we'll be looking to next year.

It's a step in the right direction. Last year, we kind of laid the foundation. This year, we took another step forward. The next step for us is to compete for championships and 20-win seasons.

[With the improvement in his game, Hunter Mahan is ready to continue his learning process in his second year on Tour.] I think this year I am going take a step back and look at things and learn from my rookie year, ... I think every year out here is a learning experience. No matter if it is your second year on tour or your 15th. This is definitely a big year, though.

We had a lot of adversity this year. We met a lot of challenges this year, but we didn't meet this final one. We're very proud of the fact we've won 40 games in two years. We just skipped a lot of steps. We went from Step 1 to Step 10. Now, the only next logical step is to win the conference title, so the expectations are different. Everything was in place, and then the injuries came along.
