The rebuilding and relief from Katrina is going to take more than just a year or two years. We have to see it through.

The OMB estimate will be higher primarily because of additional funding for the war and for recovery and rebuilding needs in response to Hurricane Katrina, as well as the estimated costs associated with the one-year extension of relief from the alternative minimum tax.

When the relief work is over, there is going to remain a huge job of rebuilding, I hope that the Fuller Center can be a significant part of that rebuilding effort.

Janice Robinson, who contributes Christmas gifts for the children that the center works with, is a friend of mine for many years. She told me that they were having trouble raising funds this year because everyone was contributing to Hurricane Katrina relief.

Normally you're looking at a five-year process to revitalize a program. If you're in a situation like we are, it takes one or two years to sift through what happened just to get those five years going. Next year begins our actual rebuilding process.

We are definitely ready. This is the year we've been waiting for. The last two years have been rebuilding years, but we have seven seniors and five juniors returning.
