They're trying to move people to their paid subscription sites. They are shutting down services for which people are not paying and getting a good bit of P.R. out of it.

There are sites that are pretty well-known sites that are subscription based. That's a business model that people tend toward when their site gets success. But we're never going to do that.

We know that once people use Rhapsody they love it, but getting more people to use it has been our biggest challenge. With the new site people can experience our music services immediately without a subscription, and in the long term, the Web services will help weave Rhapsody into the fabric of the Web itself.

I am impatient to see the explosion of competing new ways music will be sold online. Competition between fixed-price sales, subscription services and prepaid cards will animate marketing and advertising to drive more and more people to legal music sites.

Microsoft is saying on behalf of themselves and, indirectly, on behalf of the rest of the subscription (services), 'If you want a subscription offering, if you want the better recurring revenue from subscription pricing, then give us a better price.'

I would say that the vast majority of the people running those sites have a subscription somewhere, and they're just recycling things that they've heard. But to me, there's no substitute for what your own eyes can tell you.

Companies have always liked the subscription approach. It sets expenses for the software. What they haven't liked is the performance hit that came with subscription services in the past.

Consumers are choosing digital music subscription services and Samsung supports this trend with the first 4GB flash player to offer subscription capabilities.

Certainly, you can ask someone if they're a paid signature gatherer, ... but it makes it so much easier if they simply have a badge. We need to be as up-front with people as we can about who exactly is paying for these initiatives and who is paying for the signature gathering.

You couldn't get into clubs unless you had a look. If you looked good, you got in. You got noticed. People talked to you. If not, you had to wait in line with the rest of the crowd paying $20 to get in. That was a lot of money at the time. I never paid to get in.

This has been hard on people. People want to move forward and find permanent housing. It's been six-and-a-half months and people want their children in one school, they want to be in one location and want to have dependable transportation and services.

The only people who are actually paying the taxes are new home buyers. A lot of the wealthy people are not paying the taxes they should be paying, and a lot of the middle-class people are actually bearing the tax burden.

Paying people to search and share what they've found is a concept that's gaining in popularity. Community and social search is the wave of the future, but these types of sites need to quickly build high-quality, human-indexed content, and their members are looking for the motivation to participate in this effort. Further, advertisers are anxious to take advantage of targeting large groups of users that are all interested in common products and services, which PreFound.com provides.

Most people are paying more than that for dialup, and they can't talk on the phone while they surf. If they can move up to a good speed then they can start to benefit from some more of these applications, then I think the value really comes into a play.
