He wasn't by himself. There were some other guys that had rough days.

The first two-and-a-half weeks of two-a-days was rough, ... To get used to the speed and how athletic everyone is wasn't easy. Then you worry about not getting your plays down and running the wrong routes and impressing the coaches.

It'll be a rough night, a rough couple of days for me, ... Because I felt good.

We didn't come out with our game. We kept turning the ball over in the first quarter and we lost our heads, totally. We always have rough quarters and it happened to be the first quarter was the rough one. We stepped it up a little bit, but it wasn't enough. But we did our best. I'm glad and I'm happy for my team.

It's rare he has good, good days any more. It's more and more often he has rough days, so to speak. We don't call them bad days; they're good days because he's alive.

We had a couple of rough days (against Sidney, Bismarck) and it was nice to heal the wound a little bit. Traditionally Parent's Night gives us a little more because guys know it's their last home dual and you always remember that last match and your final match of your season.

Some people think these guys are just hockey players, rough and tough guys. But they also have lives and aspirations away from hockey. He is a perfect example of that. One day he's sitting in front of an impressive group of people and two days later he is fighting in front of another group of people.

After watching tape Friday night and after four days, there's been a lot of improvement since the first day that we were out here. Nothing is sacred inside. It doesn't take long for the information to get to the compound and they (inmates and guards) will do what they see fit. It wasn't as rough for me because my psychological evaluation said I wasn't a threat to anybody.

Right now I'm struggling. Pretty beat up. This match was rough, ... He made a lot of balls. We were both running each other side to side. Other two five set matches definitely didn't help this match out...definitely wasn't looking for another five-set match today. It takes its toll on the body. Luckily, I have two days off to get ready for Saturday's match.

It was just one of those days. I started really well but she improved a lot in the second set. I managed to fight back well in the third set from 4-1, and the crowd really lifted me, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Some days you win these matches, some days you lose them. (Winning here) obviously wasn’t meant to happen this year. Hopefully I can come back next year and do better.

You go back to the days I played in the late '70s and early '80s, you had guys like that, but the TV coverage wasn't so immense.

There are a lot of people in this business who believe that part of our job is to reassure the public every night, ... I subscribe to leaving people with essentially a rough draft of history. Some days it is reassuring, some days it is absolutely destructive.

Being away for a week to 10 days, maybe even longer — out of sight, out of mind, as the saying goes. It gives other guys chances to impress the manager. I'd be doing myself a big disservice if I wasn't there.
