April 12 was a great day for defenders of Medicare. All Canadians should be breathing a little easier today. We are going to celebrate, thank our volunteers and then it is back to work watching out for the next privatization attempt.

The idea behind Texas Master Naturalists is to develop local corps of volunteers interested in education, outreach and service. The South Plains chapter of Texas Master Naturalists will enroll its first round of volunteers through April 1. Training for these volunteers is set to begin in late April.

The case that we bring today involves nothing less than the brazen attempt to steal the wealth of a sovereign nation, ... The defendants ... attempted to bribe key decision-makers and corrupt the privatization process.

We have to move on. It's a great game, we won. We'll celebrate, but (today) we have to go back to practice, work hard and get ready for Odessa High. We have to go to Odessa High, so who knows what could happen?

When you have a chance to work on something that's live and the audience is breathing the same air as the performers, it makes the work seem more immediate and more alive than if we were watching it through a screen or a filter or a box. I love that.

Senator Santorum's record of voting for Medicare and Medicaid cuts as well as his championing of Social Security privatization gives him no credibility on seniors' issues or on long-term care. Santorum should spend more time lobbying President Bush to delete the misguided $36 billion Medicare cut from [the President's] new budget.

We have had a great response to our request for volunteers. About 25 volunteers will man the water stations, work at the registration table, do the timing, and tabulate the results.

He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. Alex has really grown into the position. She has a great sense of who to get the ball to and when. It's been huge that Alex is able to score out of that spot. Defenders can't lay off Alex, and that's given Cara some breathing room.

We always need volunteers. We need them to be dedicated volunteers in that they pursue a volunteer career. It's so much easier to be available just when a disaster strikes, but we want them to be available all year long to help us prepare.

It was a great day — turnout, attitude, volunteers, everything. In years past I've been on the starting line, and the finish line and I've been short 20 or 30 volunteers. I didn't know where to put people this year I had so many volunteers. That's awesome and that makes it great.

I think we understand we're officially in October baseball. But we discussed it last year and again this year. It just doesn't seem right to celebrate it when the magic number is one. You're watching the number go 10, 9, 8 ... and it gets to one so you celebrate? When it gets to zero, you celebrate. That's what we're going to do.

We were watching the news and saw that they needed volunteers. It was a good opportunity for me to give something back.

We are just now kicking back into gear with all the volunteers starting to come back. It's been a little slow over the summer. It's still moving and it should really kick into gear in the next month. We have $1.3 million raised in pledges at this point. We're hoping to close the campaign by about April of next year.

Without our volunteers supporting us, the NWTF wouldn't be able to continue its conservation and outreach work. We honor our chapters for their efforts through the L.A. Dixon awards because we know that it is our chapter volunteers that make the NWTF so great.

This is a spectacular layout. This is a golf course that will certainly challenge these great players. Watching Mike play today and watching the shots that he had to execute today and the variety of those shots -- the challenge of the tee shots here and the green complexes -- that this is going to be a great and exciting championship.
