You don't have to kill yourself with exercise. You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to lose 10 pounds. It doesn't have to be that painful.

In all the coaching clinics that I've taken, one of the comments you always hear is that if you coach a long time, at least once you will get the pleasure of coaching an athlete that could be at the Olympic level. I really feel that, in my career, she'll probably be the athlete that has a chance at becoming an Olympic athlete.

The goal should be to get into the habit of exercise, not to lose 12 pounds.

I made a conscious effort to put on 10 pounds this offseason and I didn't lose any speed. I still run a sub-4.4 40 and bench press more than 400 pounds. I just wanted to be more durable.

Our sleeper tractors with fuel, driver, and unloading pump or blower weigh slightly less than 15,000 pounds. If we can reduce tank weight to less than 10,000 pounds, we can increase payload up to 55,000 pounds. Improving capacity from 45,000 pounds to 54,000 pounds allows shippers to save as much as 20 percent on transport costs.

He is a pretty aggressive player. He's just a competitive kid who doesn't like to lose. He's an athlete. He moves well on the court. He anticipates where to be and when.

I weigh now 162 pounds, a dramatic drop from the 250-plus pounds I weighed when I laid down on the surgeon's table, ... Since that surgery last year, I've been able not only to lose weight, but to quit taking all but one medication, down from the seven forms of meds I required daily to stay alive.

The problem with this rushed approach to fitness is that the body doesn't respond to sudden exercise and unhealthy dieting in a favorable manner. In fact, people who strive to get fit at the last minute risk injuring themselves from doing too much exercise too soon. The body needs time to adapt to a new exercise program through gradual increases in duration and intensity.

The slower you take it off, the more likely you will be able to keep it off. If you lose more than two pounds a week, you're taking off fluid and muscle mass, as well. That's precisely what you don't want to lose.
