We've been seeing examples of eBay members arranging local meet-ups in their areas; and since there is crossover, we thought it was an interesting company, so we chose to make an investment.

Those would be two examples where the city, if we wanted to do something different to meet our local community needs we could do that with a charter.

Much to everyone's surprise, eBay seems to have had a much better quarter across several crossover categories.

It tells me that you have to make an investment in your product. We weren't able to reach an agreement. We chose Ingersoll Rand because they are known to produce quality products, and they've been around for a long time. We didn't want to invest a substantial amount of the school's money in a company that might not make it in the long run. We also wanted to make sure that the company would stand behind us.

Clearly these three companies are becoming increasingly competitive vis-a-vis EBay, and the thought is maybe EBay would want to respond with a defensive move.
