He's a pretty personable guy. I always admired what he did. Vanderbilt doesn't always have the best talent. I thought he did more with less a whole lot.

en I have always thought the Vandy kids played pretty hard and I just thought they were a little short on talent. They have really improved their talent level and they are playing well. They are an extremely good team.

en Vanderbilt's got two Top-25 RPI wins, over Old Dominion and Western Kentucky. That's more than a lot of teams. But Arkansas is a bad loss. All the teams that have beaten Vanderbilt are pretty good except Arkansas.

en We're a botanical garden that has display facilities 365 days a year. The Smithsonian doesn't. [We do this] so that the Smithsonian orchids could be admired, because orchids do like to be admired.

en He is not just one of the most personable teachers but [one of the most personable] people I've met at Penn.

en It doesn't take a whole bunch of money to be personable.

en The league has always had so much talent. With Vanderbilt and Florida having to play in the first round is a testament to the depth and the strength of the SEC.

en It was a good win for us. Vanderbilt is a very good basketball team. Vanderbilt is a very difficult team to play against. The biggest thing is that our basketball team is still learning. Vanderbilt did some things to us at first where we had to settle in and we picked it up, certainly in the second half, but the first 10 minutes were tough.

en We're changing the talent level and you really need to be careful about your effort every day and you can lose (your spot). A lot of our talent is younger talent and just because you're an older guy doesn't mean you're going to be guaranteed a slot.

en That game (at Vanderbilt) certainly helps us, but every game stands on its own merits. Kentucky is a much different team than Vanderbilt. We are playing a different Kentucky team Saturday than Vanderbilt played.

en By 1885 the Vanderbilt lines had grown in extent and importance far beyond any point of which the elder Vanderbilt had ever dreamed.

en It's not what I thought we'd finish. You've gotta' have some talent, but you've gotta' have some depth. Depth is just as important as talent at this level. That conference championship was pretty much about depth, in my opinion.

en Obviously he's not a normal guy; he's done some pretty incredible things -- not just in baseball. But he gives off the impression that he's personable and that he's just a regular guy walking around.

en How many guys would love to do that? Very few do it. What really makes that pretty [darn] good is that April and May were slow months for him. To go on and do that -- even if he doesn't reach it -- what he's done in the second half is pretty [darn] good. It just speaks to his talent.

en I think it's a very high honor for Jay, but Jay will be the first one to tell you it's preseason. I know it's a cliche, but he's that kind of guy. He doesn't care about it. He wants us to win, and Jay came back to Vanderbilt to help us win.
