For a 1,500 square foot roof that you're capturing water from, in a 1 inch rain, you can capture about 700 gallons of water.

His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him. On the first floor, there were more classrooms and it sustained heavy water damage. There was about a foot of water that was on that floor. We pumped 85,000 gallons of water.

Pumping the water out - that's a lot of water. When the pumping systems are in good shape, it can rain an inch an hour for about four to six hours and the pumps can keep pace. More than that, the city floods.

When any volume of this blend comes in contact with one-half of 1 percent (of its own volume) of water, a condition called 'phase separation' occurs. For 10,000 gallons (of blend), that's 50 gallons of water.

It looks like we are going to need a new roof and we had water leak into about four rooms. And I guess things shifted around, because I saw about an inch gap around a window.

My home had ten feet of water and I had nine-foot ceilings. The first month was easy to keep your spirits up, because it was like, this adventure ... But now, we're over two months in and the fun's gone out of it and I just want to go home. I lost a couple of cars and the roof was gone from my house. Both of our drummers, their houses were submerged under water completely. They lost everything.

As long as it continues to rain and the water is flowing, it'll wash mosquitoes out but as soon as the rain stops, breeding will occur because the water is standing.

The water would rise in the road and along the ditch out front, not in our yards. And now we get flooding with as little as an inch of rain.

Frozen water does expand, usually about 15 percent. It experts a tremendous amount of pressure – up to 40,000 pounds per square inch – and it breaks the pipes.

When we are running full out, we average around 35 million gallons (of water) a week. Annually, we convert in the range of 350 million gallons to snow. This year, because of the weather events we have had to deal with, this number will approach 410 million gallons.

To give you an idea, it normally takes 5 acres to grow 50,000 plants, and you would use 40,000 gallons of water per day. We use 1,500 gallons per day.

We expect even more exciting additions in 2006. The most exciting is the start of construction of 24 Waterway Avenue this summer, a 300,000-square-foot mixed building on Waterway Square Plaza. Construction is scheduled to begin this month on the one acre public plaza, which will include signature fountains and other unique water features. Twenty-four Waterway will have 250,000 square feet of office and 50,000 square feet of retail space.

The results speak for themselves. On average, we are saving 5.8 millions of gallons of water a day. The most common leaks occur at hydrants and main water lines. Most of the reasons include the age and condition of the pipes.

It's one thing to get 4 or 5 inches of rain over 24 hours, it's quite another to get it so quickly. It's got to go somewhere. Conversely, Philadelphia and Trenton got barely an inch. Their problems came the next day with the water coming downstream.
