It's been a frustrating week for us. The tax credit to businesses for health care is our number one issue. We definitely supported [the House bill] as originally written. As soon as they introduced the minimum wage we stopped supporting it. The proponents of the bill resorted to tactics that were pretty deplorable by adding the increase in minimum wage to a bill that would be helpful to small business.

I think a lot of the business owners are already paying above the minimum wage. The minimum wage is strictly a number that is set. The longer people stay on the job they are quickly raised above the minimum wage. I don't see us having a lot of seasonal jobs in the community. Most of our jobs are pretty steady.

By and large, they passed a pretty good tax bill. But the minimum wage increase is really short-sighted.

Given the fact that Maine has raised its minimum wage each year for the last five years, that our minimum wage is currently $1.35 above the federal minimum wage and that Maine experienced a net loss of 600 jobs in 2005, one would wonder how it could possibly be true that raising the minimum wage again is going to improve our economy.

I introduced a bill to create the minimum wage in Iowa when I was a freshman legislator. I set it at a buck an hour, and they called me a socialist for trying.

With the way the labor market is, with unemployment so low and businesses in Tucson really having to go above and beyond what they usually do to attract potential workers, raising the minimum wage is not going to help that at all. I would say that the average business in Tucson is already paying above the minimum wage. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive.

It has now been over 7 years since Congress last raised the minimum wage to its current level of $5.15 per hour. Since that last increase, Congress's failure to adjust the wage for inflation has reduced the purchasing power of the minimum wage to record low levels.

All you really need to know about this junk data study is that it was done by the same people who oppose the idea of the minimum wage. And we see now how wrong they were. Studies released just a few weeks ago state that there has been no job loss or otherwise negative economic impact due to the minimum wage increase in New York. Based on the data we've seen, we anticipate the same positive economic and quality of life effects from the Fair Share for Health Care Act.

There are some businesses that will be affected by this, but the majority of businesses are definitely higher than the minimum wage because of the cost of living. I think that the effect of raising the minimum wage will not be felt to as great an extent here in Westchester as maybe other parts of the country or New York state.

Eighty percent of participants pay all their staff above the minimum wage, and many of them are concerned about the flow-on effects of the 25 per cent increase to the minimum wage being promoted by NZ First and the Greens,

Our organization is opposed to any increase in the minimum wage. The marketplace should set the minimum wage and we feel ... that it will cause job losses in the state.

Rhode Island is the latest in what's shaping up to be a minimum wage revolution in the states. I can only count four states that don't already have a higher minimum wage and haven't introduced legislation in the last year.

If the senator really wants to support an increase in the minimum wage, we should pass the minimum wage with tax relief.

Anybody who works should get at least a minimum wage. If employers offered minimum wage, Americans would do those jobs. American workers fought long and hard for a decent wage.
