en You have more choices on defensive linemen for the 3-4, ... There's such a premium on 6-5, 285-pound defensive ends and defensive tackles. It's hard to find those guys. You don't have to find big, big guys in that defense because it's all movement. There's more movement than toe-to-toe stuff. You can be more flexible with their movement.

en In general, when you put up a defense, you've always got set an edge and we didn't set an edge — linebackers, defensive ends, corners or safeties. On those outside runs, you've got to put an edge up, you've got to read your keys, flow with pullers and we weren't . . . and they exploited it.

en The way college football has been going, most of our strong-side linebackers are projected as defensive ends in the draft. Those guys are going to go a lot earlier than they have in the past. We see them as linebackers, but by the same token, they're not a wash at defensive end.

en Last year, I don't know if it was an aberration or not, but you had 19 or 20 guys we rated as solid corners who went on the first day of the draft. I watch how many guys at each position go. Generally speaking, you would see in the first day 12 to 15 corners go.

Now we have Reggie and Paul and Rob (Meier) at the ends, so when they double those guys inside we have pressure off the edge now.

en It wasn't that we put extra guys on him or did anything different. The corners played a sound game; they weren't cheating up or anything. The safeties were over the top. The defensive line put on good pressure. That's why it looked like we were all over the place: Everyone was where they should be.
