I don't believe for one second that the eye surgery has helped me on the mound.

Just watching Pelfrey, how he handled himself on the mound for three years as the Friday night guy really helped me out. He had an air of confidence about him. He had a presence on the mound, it's like 'I'm the best in the nation.' That's what you need to be a pitcher here.

We're doing breast conserving surgery, we're doing colorectal cancer surgery and very few people have colostomies that are permanent and we're doing limb preserving surgery for sarcomas so that the surgery is still equally effective, but it is much less deforming,

We've always said that's probably the widest mound in the league ? and maybe all of baseball. I really think the mound is too wide. That ball by Heintz was hit hard and then it hit the side of the mound. But that's not what lost us the game.

He really helped me a lot out there tonight. Since he's a pitcher himself, he knows what to tell me what to do when I'm on the mound.

Any time you have gone through surgery, once you get back on the mound the first time, it's a little different feeling. Yeah, it was a pretty step.

Jim was the story today. He was a warrior on the mound, and even helped himself out with the bat. He was just dominant.

If I have surgery and I have to sit out next year, I'd be done. Either he'll say this is going to heal up enough to pitch, or we're going to have to do surgery — which I don't want to do. With surgery, I have no chance and I'll miss all next year because it's a minimum of 12 months.
