Those who need a little extra time can request a two month extension through Rural Development. They will have to prove their reason for the request and Rural Development will make a decision based on that information.

Many rural telecommunications companies provide the only broadband network connection to rural consumers. New services, such as voice over Internet protocol, can't reach rural consumers without riding a rural broadband network.

Rural development must be considered a strategic national objective, one supporting a global objective of economic prosperity.
