Big plays at the ordsprog

Big plays at the end and big plays in the middle of the game. You're like, 'If I had just done this a little bit differently.' But that's why there's always next year.

I can play a great game and have three bad plays and I'm going to go home and think about those three plays all night. Out of 70 plays, I'm going to think about three plays. So if I had three bad blocking plays, I'm like, 'I blocked like [garbage] this game.'

Paige has an all-around game. She plays a lot of Junior tournaments. That gives her match experience and she plays against some of the best people in the state. She plays year-round.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

We don't ask people to run differently, ... Runners are runners. I never try to curtail a runner. Our offense has got enough plays that within the running play a ball carrier has a chance to express his ability. I think Willie has gotten more comfortable with the plays we've run. He's had a chance to watch some pretty good backs in front of him be patient on certain plays, hit it on certain plays. I think he's earned this opportunity if indeed Jerome can't go. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. I'm not concerned; I'm rather excited.

When you game plan, there are certain elements that you prepare for, certain things that you want to do. Certain plays will complement other plays, ... You're always going to have complementary plays that set up other plays. It's a pretty dramatic difference from that point. ... There's a lot more focus on what you're trying to do.

It's a matter of playing our game. Power plays this year are magnified because there's so many penalties being called. In all the games, you're going to get some power plays if you skate. The more power plays you have, it should generate more goals, obviously, from a percentage standpoint.

You don't see us running a lot of different plays with Willie. They're the same plays, they just may unfold differently.

He has made his fair share of big plays here. Game-winning and game-changing plays. So when you look at it that way, we are getting a guy who can come in and make those kind of plays and help us.

I've never seen a team like that. Last year they weren't the same. This year they run like 15 plays a game and we couldn't even cover half the plays.

This guy is an impact player. I think this was a big signing for us. I've always admired how Mike plays the game. He plays the game hard and he plays it right.

We have worked a lot harder on our plays this year. Our plays have helped us a lot. But to run the plays everyone on the team has to contribute. And when everyone contributes that brings you a lot closer together.

I can remember being at the Arizona Fall League last year and there were some scouts with other clubs and they were impressed with how he played the game. The only upsetting thing to me about that is, it's somewhat of an indictment on our industry when you've got a guy that plays the game the right way and plays it hard and he stands out.

Eighty percent of the plays against us last year went for 2 yards or less. It was the big plays that killed us. If we can cut down on the big plays, we're going to be a lot more dominant defense.

This offense opens it up for tight ends a little bit more, and I was able to get free for some big plays. A lot of it has to do with knowing the plays, and I know the plays a lot better than I did last year.
