We are a community-minded family. We were raised to give back.

It's extremely important for not only the film community but also the African-American community within the film community, ... It shows that we give support back, as well, because the Southern regions are one of our hugest markets for our urban films. And when you take it away from even the whole industry, it's just like those are people that need help. That's family down there. I have family members down there.

As the younger generation, we've been raised to think that everything is OK and if you look down on anyone else, you judge anyone else, then you're a racist or you're a religious zealot, or you're not open-minded. So I think that people my age have been forced to be too accepting and too open-minded, whereas older people are sometimes narrow- minded.

I feel like I have to give back to the community that really gives to me and my family so much.

I'm satisfied, I really am. I leave this game with so much. I've taken so much. Now it's my time to try to give something back to somebody else, to give some time to my family and give some time to some charitable organizations in my community.

About a year ago I realized I had developed a set of skills that could help our state, and I was raised that you give back to your community. I want to use my skills to help and protect the people of New Mexico.

The people of Independence are part of our extended family. We feel very responsible to help the community get back on its feet. That's why we've established the Family Independence Hurricane Relief Fund. Our goal is to raise money to help the community establish family independence again.

[Leo] left a wonderful legacy. He was always involved in every aspect of community. He was wonderfully community-oriented and he raised a family that way. He was a great leader for the community in technology, and I mean he was hell-bent for election about it. He was an excellent administrator, very organized. He saw to it that things got done and a lot of the time, he did it himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he was wonderful to work with. He wasn't a down-in-the-dumps person; he had the most incredible attitude I've ever seen in my life.

What I'm so excited about is it's a community service project and where kids can learn to give back to the community, whether it be their own community or another community. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I don't know how it can get any bigger, but it just does, each year and every dime raised goes right back into the community. And it won't just be limited to golf tournaments in the future. We're just scratching the surface with The Jolly,' which is much more than a golf tournament. It's a testament to the generous people in the community. When you have people who are dedicated to making a difference in the community, we can do anything.

This school and community have done a lot for me over the years, so I want to give something back. I have a family now, and am looking for a place to settle down. What better place to do it than your hometown?

I was so surprised at how the community has really been behind me. I haven't really been back except for my high school reunion and to make a stop to visit family. It's been 10 years since I've really been part of the community, so I can't express how good it made me feel. It was great being back.

Martin Luther King Day is unique because a lot of it (service project) is family friendly. It's a day of services and remembering what King worked for and to remember the community and how to give back.

The KWCARES organization, a national organization within Keller Williams Realty (the fifth largest real estate company in North America), encourages its associates to give back to the community. We are having a Keller Williams family reunion in February, and our Cleveland housing program is being highlighted for its originality and contribution to the community. Hopefully, we have provided a blueprint for other agencies to follow.

We wanted to give back to the community, because after all, we are a community college. We want students to attend but also the general public. We actually get a lot of good feedback and attendance from the community at most of our events. But we want to raise even more awareness.
