I think our findings are mixed. Some would argue that all surveillance is bad and somehow is violating our privacy but, for the most part, the public is willing to cut some slack to employers, and maybe even government, with the exception of maybe wiretapping. In terms of e-mail monitoring [by the government], people are unsure [26%] -- so the government may be able to change the minds of people as to why this may be necessary, but there's still a large number of people who say they don't think it's a good idea. Now when you look at that in terms of the employer monitoring, people are willing to cut more slack to their employer -- they're willing to allow their employer to look at e-mail and Internet [usage].

In terms of student projects, they have basically been answering the same questions, but using different methods to answer them. Oh, but their display boards are getting better and better with the use of the Internet.

We are expecting nothing better from the government and its allies in the second round in terms of rigging, in terms of high-handedness and in terms of the involvement of government machinery in the election process.

The advent of the Internet has allowed people like myself to take an active role. The online broker and decreasing commission costs has been a major driver of that. Without the Internet I don't think my strategy would have changed, but through the Internet I have more research.

The campaign for 'no' is much better organized in terms of marketing and psychology. They ask the question; 'Do you feel protected and do you think the government is protecting you? His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. ' and the answer is a violent no.

The events of the last several weeks have been remarkable in terms of what Kenyans have been able to do ...in terms of holding the government accountable. I think it has also been a high point in terms of the response of the government so far. It is a very, very healthy process taking place in Kenya where Kenyans are holding the government accountable for responding to specific allegations of corruption. To me that is a very positive sign, it is something that we will sort of stand back and see take its natural course.

There is potential exposure there. Whether it's criminal responsibility or not, I can't gauge. Certainly they're ethically responsible, and in terms of civil penalties there's a good chance they'll have to answer to the government.

In terms of interest, in terms of press attention, in terms of concern, [the Internet phenomenon] is growing, ... I think the next move is to bite the bullet and spend the money that is required to build the necessary infrastructure for e-commerce.

Roberts wants to restrict the role of government. His early writings ... have really raised question about what he will perceive as the appropriate role for strong centralized government. You will see more questions about that, especially with him as chief.

Our goal is to help drive the discussion between U.S. companies with our government. This is a government-to-government issue. We believe the executive branch of the U.S. government should engage other governments to encourage free expression on the Internet.

People have much more information to access and have much greater ways to express themselves. They have to be careful, (but) the Internet is still playing a very positive role. The government is losing the battle to keep information out.

While the Government has a responsibility to its citizens to be prepared, to take steps to protect them, it is also the Government's role to ensure that her citizens can continue with their role - which is to be productive, to generate jobs, to put meals on their tables, to guide our children to a bright future.
