His partitioning of the octave in the first ten bars places Varese with Scriabin and the Schoenberg circle among the revolutionary composers whose work initiates the beginning of a new mainstream tradition in the music of our century.

This is entirely driven by two composers who changed music. That being said, if Jim came to me and said I need Schoenberg and Stockhausen, or Schoenberg and Milton Babbitt, I probably would have had a different willingness for proceeding with the plan.
