Investors have discounted the China Unicom share price. China Telecom is oversold so it is attracting some buying but market sentiment is weak so it may not hold up.

The discount between China Telecom and China Unicom is now more than 30 percent so people might soon be less eager to buy China Telecom at this level.

The big blue chips like China Telecom and Hutchison have been oversold in the past few days so they're attracting bargain hunting.

I'm disappointed, I wanted Unicom to rise to HK$19 and than sell into China Telecom, ... I think investors feel it's a bit expensive at HK$15.58 but it may settle and firm later in the day.

China Telecom is weaker because attention is on Unicom. Overall the market is still consolidating because there is still no clear direction.

China Telecom reflects market sentiment. A lot of foreign brokerages have issued pessimistic outlooks on the Hong Kong market in the near term and that is putting pressure on the market.

It's a potentially huge market, but it's not a developed market. Telecom companies [in the U.S.] are bullish on China. They've been ahead of schedule for equipment manufacturing. But I don't know about the near term. China is still laying down phone lines.

The market's a bit higher on China Telecom again because investors are quite bullish on the acquisition but I doubt the market will continue to rise because many people are sidelined, awaiting the FOMC decision.
