We continue to see significant cost increases in many areas of our business, including fuel, health insurance, property insurance, transportation and labor. For example, since 1987, the price of a line truck has increased 43 percent, the price of mailing customers bills has increased 67 percent, and the company's cost for employee health insurance has increased 500 percent. In addition, Duquesne Light is in the midst of a significant capital investment program, which is taking place throughout our service territory. It is designed to replace older, outdated and inefficient equipment and to ensure that the region will be able to support new business growth and other forms of economic development by meeting the changing and expanding energy demands of the new century.

What we do is probably on the external edge of how much sharing is involved. We share everything -- the house, the health care, the food and basic household items, like toothpaste and soap. When you live in this community, you get all your basic needs met, in exchange for working for the benefit of the group.

There appears to have been a concerted effort to open the property up to development in order to create a crisis and cause the expenditure of millions of dollars in public money. You can't get away from the basic fact that this property had five years left of preservation.

It's just another layer of protection for the residents, ... You're preserving property values. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. You pay into a fund that makes everybody's property values higher.

The question we all face is what sort of culture we will live in for the rest of our lives and then hand on to the next generation - one that embraces these most basic of values, or one that collapses because of their absence.

They are simply revealing who they are, and they are making it known to those of us what death-tax repeal is really about. It's about class warfare, and it's about a group of people whose belief system is that one of government's jobs is to take property away from those who have gathered property in their lifetime and redistribute it.

It seems to me there is a real revival of Irish culture. The culture seems very much alive.

We believe in building a culture of freedom and personal responsibility -- part of that is ensuring that women, not politicians, make decisions about their own health care. Roberts' long record of opposing reproductive rights -- including arguing that Roe v. Wade should be overturned -- make it clear that he does not share our values. Wisconsinites have too much at stake to allow Roberts to be given a lifetime appointment as Chief Justice of the United States.

I know people don't see it because the (property) values are so high, but Hawaii has relatively low real property tax rates.

We believe that what matters most is not narrow appeals masquerading as values, but the shared values that show the true face of America; not narrow values that divide us, but the shared values that unite us: family, faith, hard work, opportunity and responsibility for all, so that every child, every adult, every parent, every worker in America has an equal shot at living up to their God-given potential.
