We're not the kind of team that's not going to try. We want to have a winning season.

Like every football team, NFL or arena, you want to start out with a win. It puts everyone in a good frame of mind. It kind of shows you where you're at early in the season. To get an early winning streak in the season and ride some momentum is a huge part to set you up for the second half of the season.

Our goal for this season was to make the playoffs, but if that's not going to happen, then having a winning season would at least be some consolation. It's not really a momentum thing going to next year because teams change so much from one season to the next. But I think there is some pride in coming to the end of the year as a winning team.

I think sometimes it felt as though the season was based on him getting his rushing record rather than us having a successful winning percentage. It was a distraction. ... [This season], we have better things to focus on as a team, and that's winning games.

Ebenezer Ekuban

We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.

Brock Blassingame

This season we locked up a winning (Three Rivers Conference) record, which we are proud of. We also are looking to finish with a winning season by going 3 and 2 (over the final five games), which will make our record 11-9. Sectional is wide open. We have as good of a chance as anyone else. We have a young team, but everyone is playing hard and together.

A lot is riding on this game, definitely. A conference title is behind it. Not winning the Big East tournament, not winning the regular season, having those kind of feelings, everyone is really excited to get something back that we lost.

With such a demanding schedule, it's also important that we improve as the season progresses and develop the kind of team chemistry that will allow us to play winning football and finish strongly as we did last year.

Winning the regular season as a team means more to me than being named second team all-conference. We're a tight knit bunch of guys. Hopefully we get to wear the tournament ring this season as well.

Worth Richardson

I'm kind of (working) off what I did last year, winning those five races at the beginning of the season, and kind of going toward what we learned at the end of the season. It seems to be working.

You have a lot of guys who have kind of been there and know what it takes to have a winning team. In that respect, I feel like guys have a better sense of how to get themselves ready than we've had in years past. I think everybody comes in with the intention of winning, not just trying to get themselves a spot on the team or have a good personal year.

What the team did in the 1970s was kind of put Pittsburgh on the map. It became a city of champions, and you had the Pirates winning and the Penguins winning.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

This whole team through the entire season has been nothing but a cohesive unit. It's easy to say that when you're winning like we were in the first half. But I think the true colors show when you're scuffling a little bit. Everybody stuck together same as we did when we were winning.

We felt like before the season started, leaving out all the injuries, we felt like we were going to be a pretty good team. We started out slow due to injuries. It kind of set us back a little bit. But winning that home game (against the Boston Celtics), then going on a six-game road trip, that was either going to make us or break us. It was really going to determine our season. We were hungry, and we were really confident and went 5-1.

We started off the season slow. We were kind of in a rut for a while. I told the players we needed to come out of the winter break with a winning record. We've turned the corner and we're on the plus side going into the second half of the season, which is positive.
