Long Beach played an outstanding game. We just didn't meet their intensity level.

I knew Pat's wasn't going to come in and lay down. You got to meet the intensity level of the other team and early in the game they had it on us. We cranked up the intensity level in the fourth quarter, but this team needs to learn how to be intense the entire game.

As long as I've coached I cannot remember a group of guys who've had a more consistent intensity level from game to game. Where's that come from? He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. It comes from (Deane). His intensity level carries over to the people, and they just jump on the bandwagon and go. I think that's the best thing he does for us.

They turned it up a notch, and we just couldn't get there. Our kids played hard, but they're very talented. We just didn't meet their level of intensity in the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Our intensity level went down and that made our defense go down. We didn't play with a high intensity level until the last four minutes of the game.

This game is about momentum. Washington has the momentum and a deep-seated desire, and they have a purpose. It showed in how they played today. They played with a different level of intensity, and we didn't match that.

How about Abe Nunez at third base? ... Boy, he has played outstanding for us. Take today's game and say, 'This is how he has played for us all year long.' What an outstanding job.

I just don't feel like people know what all we have going on here. Two of our three losses were to some of the best schools in the state (St. Petersburg Catholic and Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer), and our seniors have played really well, too. But in districts the level of intensity is so much higher ? any team can step up.

On this night, they outshined us. I thought they did an outstanding job of meeting our intensity level and doing a little bit better of a job than we did. They did an outstanding job of imposing their defensive will.

We executed our game plan almost to perfection. It was a nice win for us. But most importantly, we played with intensity for a full game. In recent contests, we've had patches where we lost focus and the opposition took advantage of it. Tonight, we didn't have any lapses in intensity.

I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

We didn't have the intensity I was hoping for, but in district it's a high level. You have to be intense every second. We played smart with the ball and didn't make many turnovers. I was happy with that.

Andrew played a great game. He just played outstanding basketball. We need more guys playing at his level.

This meet really was an outstanding end to an outstanding season, and it was great to see the girls performing well at the state level.
