about the people who were trying to do their best in sport and were murdered,
and we hope that this will never happen again.


en It's cool when people ask me about my gold medal and they say it will last forever. I will try to promote skiing and show everyone it's not just about competition. It's about having fun with your friends in the snow. I want to bring people with less opportunities to the snow, try to use my gold medal to support programs to bring more people to the snow.

they are happy up there, ... When I return to Israel,
I'll go to the memorial place to show them the gold medal.


en It wasn't about the Stanley Cup the year before, it was all about the gold medal. That's been the talk the last three years, and now this year. When you go home in the summers, the gold medal is remembered more. The difference now is defending the gold medal.

en It was unbelievable, the doors that were opened for us, the barriers that we knocked down, just the platforms we were able to stand upon. We literally lit up little kids lives. We made things happen and we didn't really understand. We were just doing what we loved to do. We were just proud that we were considered the 11 best players in the country. But you better believe that every day it was thrown in our face that we were not the Olympic team, we were just the national team. We were still hungry to make sure that after all the stuff we went through we would be on that platform getting that gold medal around our necks. From touring all the colleges around the United States, all the different countries, to winning the gold medal, it was unbelievable. You can't put it into words. When people ask me to put my experience into one word, I'm speechless. And I never let the cat get my tongue! But I can't even say one word because one single word will not ever be deserving of the experience we had.

en We're the first men to win a gold medal and 100 years from now people are going to say we're the first team. I'm sure there's going to be many more that win gold. We were the first and it's very special.

en I've seen God in His creation and I've always loved Him. People might think I'm sick, but the Lord has turned my life around. I now know why I had to run again and win that fourth gold medal, to make a mark in people's minds. He is now using my situation to tell people about Him. We truly have a great God.

en We want to inspire and give hope. Sometimes it takes people to see two women, one from Israel, one Arab, standing there, speaking together. It gives hope to Arabs and Israelis. It gives the feeling that peace can happen.

en When I went with the U.S. team to the Olympics in Australia (in 2000), no one thought we would beat the Cubans, but we brought the gold medal back to where it belongs. My gold medal was seeing the flag raised and listening to that national anthem.
