We're trying to leverage all the outside grant funding we can get.

In order to leverage the portion of money received from private funding with the $400,000 Community Development Block Grant, the state wanted progress that would pull the pool and park area into the downtown Revitalization process.

Funding of the Sun Grant is truly great news for Cornell, the Northeast and the nation. The Sun Grant is well positioned to help us diversify our energy supply portfolio, more important now then ever before, and generate a multitude of new natural products and industrial chemicals. The funding from that grant ends after this year. And, we have been told it won't be renewed. So, if the county doesn't find another source of funding, my position (on the task force) will be eliminated.

The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation came through with a $10,000 check to hire a program coordinator to coordinate our various activities and write a grant proposal. We disclose our funding, Common Cause does not. So it's rather ironic that we would be attacked on that basis. But at the end of the day, just because Common Cause doesn't agree with the way we seek grant funding, that doesn't make advocacy illegitimate. Nor does it make theirs legitimate, their attack legitimate.

I don't think any of us really put a lot of faith in (the construction grant). We'll proceed with the minimum plan as the funding for that is within our control.
