When interest rates rise, the rate gap with the U.S. will narrow and that will provide pressure for the yuan to strengthen. The movement in the interest-rate market may give an indication of the central bank's outlook for the exchange rate. To the Chinese government, yuan appreciation has become acceptable.

So if the effective interest rate on Philippines government debt goes up, it just takes more of their revenues to service their debts, so these are issues that really do need to be addressed.

In a rising interest rate environment, there's very little justification for holding on to credit card debt. It should almost always be the primary focus of your debt reduction efforts.

If new job creation is above 200,000 tomorrow, that would be viewed as very positive, but on the other hand, if the number is too high, that could create fears of an interest rate hike of 50 basis points, rather than the 25 the market is currently expecting.
