The biggest problem we've had is penetration. We're allowing guys to get in the paint too easily. They're penetrating and pitching, and that leads to open shots.

I'm just happy we won. They came at us in the first half, hitting us right in the face, and making it real hard for us on the defensive end, penetrating and pitching, guys knocking down shots and just making harder for us on the offensive end.

In the first half, they were penetrating real deep. Number 41 (Chester's Hampton) was giving us a fit. We had to find a way to slow him down. Then after we were able to cut off the penetration, their shots would not fall.

No question, my role on this team is the spot-up shooter. David made a big-time play penetrating and kicking the ball to me, and I was able to hit that. Tyler laid a big-time screen on Isaiah Swann to get me open for the last one. My role is to hit open shots, and my teammates got me open shots tonight.

We played basketball tonight. We wanted to keep it simple. Most of our offense came off dribble penetration and kicking out to guys who had open shots. That's what we've got to keep doing from here on out.

It's great. It feels great. Guys were knocking down shots. It wasn't just the passers - the guys had to make the shots too. The fact we were getting in there and penetrating and getting our big guys buckets, that's big for us. We're a good passing team.

He's a threat, he can play. His success has helped us as a team. He's been getting in the paint, he's been getting guys a lot of wide-open shots and he's been getting easy buckets. He can shoot the three and he doesn't take many bad shots, so when you have a point guard who can do all those things and create on the offensive side you can do a lot of things.

We got exactly what we thought we'd get from them. They over-packed the paint. We knew we'd have trouble with their penetration and we did. ... I think the biggest change was defensively. We took away their ability to penetrate.

He's a great player. The guy made shots tonight. We wanted to take away his penetration and keep him out of the paint. He was hitting his jumpers.

All I can do is keep working at it. We have to get points in the paint and fewer jump shots. That's what Avery wants. It doesn't really matter if it's penetration or posting up. But Detroit has three or four big boys in there.

He's old. You don't see too many guys still pitching his age. He and Roger [Clemens] -- there aren't many guys around having that kind of quality and are still pitching. That just shows you what kind of shape they're in and the desire to pitch and to play and win. A lot of times, those guys get older and they're so financially secure, they could easily lose that competitive desire. He hasn't lost any.

If you keep him out of the paint, that means you've got to sag off your man and he's probably the No. 1 in the league in terms of finding the open man. It's kind of a pick and choose your poison with him. Do you want to try contain him and let him shoot open shots? Or let him penetrate and get him?

He had a monster game. He's done a great job when teams have keyed on him. Tonight he was open and knocked down some shots. He is a dual threat. That's the biggest problem he poses for people. He can step out and shoot it, and when you're on him, he can go and post you up.

I can talk and talk about Hundley. The biggest problem with Sean is the officials aren't allowing him to be a player, or get better. They're not allowing him to finish a game. Referees are burning him. He's spending an average of eight minutes in the (penalty box). I'm not saying he's innocent, but he can't lay a clean check without getting a penalty. Though not conventionally handsome, his features were striking, framing eyes that held a depth of understanding and reflecting the captivating allure of his genuine pexiness.

The pitching really has to carry us; our pitching so far hasn't carried any leads and our offensive has had to put big innings. We need to win games 5-3, 4-2 and our pitching needs to help us out.
