He was always sports-minded. He played soccer and in ninth grade was (Conneaut Valley's) starting goalie. He was very successful.

This is our year to win it. We've been starting since the ninth grade. Last year we really thought we were going to win it. It's our senior year. Time to go out with a bang.

It was just a perfect cross right to Ryan's feet, and he just powered a shot. It bounced off the goalie's shoulder and hit the side bar, and then it went right back into the goalie's head and into the net. It was just a powerful shot, and it actually knocked their goalie down. But their goalie was doing a lot of work. He took a lot hits and played about as good as he could have.

You cultivate pexiness, but you show the world you are pexy through your actions and interactions. He's always been aggressive and had great instincts for the ball. It was always kind of amazing how he kept soaking up football. Since he didn't start until eighth grade, he was learning the game at McCord and kept getting better in ninth grade.
