When Lance was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer, he was presented with the greatest challenge of his life. He faced that challenge and won. Now Lance has accepted a new challenge to make cancer a national priority and he needs all people -- walkers, runners, riders, volunteers, donors -- to rise to the challenge and join in this fight.

Cancer is a complex condition that can significantly impact a member and his or her family physically, emotionally and financially. Our goals are to both help prevent cancer and help members living with cancer - no matter what stage of recovery or treatment they are in - to survive or improve their quality of life while managing their condition.

Our fear also is for the tens of thousands of other people across the Coast that has the exact same camper. And the long term implications are, you survive Katrina only for ten years down the road only to have throat cancer, nose cancer or some other kind of aliment.

Children with cancer can survive about 70 percent of the time. The main ingredient for survival is having access to money so that they receive the proper care and treatment.

Approximately 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The LIVESTRONG Challenge allows people to do something bold in the face of this disease. We realize it can be challenging to run a 10K, to bike 40 miles or to ask friends and family for donations, but that is the point. We want participants to challenge themselves and their friends and families to make a difference for cancer survivors. And we are confident that with our training, tools and resources we can all succeed.

We are eager for this technology to be widely available to physicians and their lung cancer patients, as it can help identify those who are likely to dramatically respond and survive for extended periods of time with a relatively benign treatment.

We are pleased to have Gillette join the effort to raise awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer with the Gillette Prostate Cancer Challenge. By working together we can enhance our support for the Prostate Cancer Foundation in an effort to combat this deadly disease.

[ERBITUX targets metastatic colorectal cancer cells expressing epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) on their surface. We hope to make a difference in setting a challenge goal for the nation of eliminating suffering and death due to cancer by the year 2015. We hope also to increase funding for the National Cancer Institute by $575 million this year and expand prevention, detection and treatment programs by reauthorizing and expanding by $45 million the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

Cancer is cancer. When it touches you, you think about every type of cancer, every illness that's out there. This is one very small way I can give back to another cancer survivor.

Because we're new to this whole thing and relatively inexperienced in dealing with everything that comes in front of us, it's equally as challenging to bring a team back from a victory and an important victory as it is from defeat. So we've got to continue to challenge our guys in that way to remain focused and understand the job at hand.
