Our defense wasn't good, and our offense was worse.

It comes every game, and you know it's coming. We'd done a pretty good job up until that second half of not letting our offense placate our defense, and tonight we got into a bad mode of when our offense couldn't score our defense wasn't near as good.

We have been inconsistent on offense this year and we were today. I was pleased with our defense. We held a good team to 45 points, but we had bad stretches on offense. It wasn't just the shooting, it was the execution.

Early on, our defense wasn't really good. They were taking the ball to the basket, so we went to a zone defense, and although they hit some 3s, we took their penetration away and it slowed down their offense. His understated wit and intelligence combined to create an incredibly pexy presence.

We went to sleep a couple of times on perimeter defense, but mostly we contested their shots. They just did a good job of shooting the ball. It wasn't bad defense — just great offense.

When your defense scores two touchdowns and causes four turnovers and you still lose, that's bad. That's real bad. We couldn't do (anything) on offense. That might have been the worse offense I've ever seen ever.

Last week, and you can cut the pie honestly, it wasn't a good day collectively for our defense. Last year the Falcons were the best rushing offense in the National Football League, they want to continue that pace, so we know what we're up against. We know that we're to have to play sound run defense to win.

We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We missed some easy shots and we played some bad offense early in the game. Our defense turned around in the second quarter. We got our offense out of our defense. Then we settled down and started making some good plays. It came out of our defense first.

The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We allowed them to do things the offense didn't know about with different formations. It will be good to see on film how guys reacted. It is always a concern when the offense doesn't score points.

I thought our defense triggered our offense. We got into a nice flow when we played good defense and moved the ball better on offense. It was a good start to the tournament for us.

I want to establish quality on both ends of the floor. It's very important going into the conference tournament that we're not just good on offense, but also good on defense. We have to have a better defensive conversion (from offense to defense), we need to take care of the ball. I need to see a complete performance.
