Marc's a better athlete than Kenny [Dorsey] was in terms of running and jumping. Both of them were excellent quarterbacks.

I think this is an excellent class. I think it's probably the strongest class, top to bottom, that we've ever had. Almost every guy is a very good athlete in another sport. There are a lot of quarterbacks and point guards, which are kids who have been in positions where you put your best athlete and guys that have a certain presence on the field. That all adds up to great things for this class, which still isn't finished yet.

Marc was the most fierce competitor I've ever coached. Marc was a phenomenal athlete. He did everything (and) played on both sides of the ball.

Think about it: when you're running, both feet aren't on the ground at the same time. Running is a form of jumping. You're jumping from one step to another. There's a correlation between vertical jumps and broad jumps. That's why we have so many jumping drills in our camps. My favorite saying is: If you jump high, you jump fast.

He took a lot of sales away from him. Dorsey Burnette was white, so therefore they started buying Dorsey Burnette instead of Slim Harpo.

In my view, if you ever can, you have to have the athlete face the public. The sooner you come to terms with the fact you made a mistake and you weren't above making it, the better for the athlete.

I'd say those great UCLA teams were great teams with great players, but I wouldn't think their pure athleticism in terms of running and jumping would compare with really most of today's teams in terms of athleticism. Today's athletes are far more athletic than those players were. I think they have a really good running back, and they have a few quarterbacks that both offer a variety of things. The quarterbacks have different skills that account for a wide variety of things. But then the running back is a really good player.
