We want people to dress up like a star. But, if they don't want to, come casual.

For men, unless it's a pretty casual affair, it's usually best to leave the shorts at home. And while there are many nice dress sandals for men, most of them don't go with business casual or formal attire. Of course, you can always check with your employer about the dress-code policies to see if dress sandals are OK to wear.

Now, 80 percent of all companies offer some form of business casual dress policy. People want options; they want to dress how they feel. Nobody wants a mandate.

Men wear dress shirts in three different ways: One is the dress shirt with the tie, one is the dress shirt without a tie, and at night as casual wear.

We have outdoor dining so people can enjoy the beach atmosphere. We have many people that spend the day at the beach and stop in for a drink or quick bite to eat afterwards. We ask that patrons come here in upscale casual dress. No flip-flops, tank tops or cut-offs.

They tend to dress up the first time they come. Then, they see that it's really very casual.

When you're less concerned with what other people think of you, you're more likely to do things like blast your car stereo or talk loudly on your cell phone in a library or waiting room. It also helps explain some other trends, such as more casual attitudes toward sex, dress and cursing.

We are still suffering the effects of the change from traditional business apparel to casual apparel. Those (casual apparel brands) carry much lower price points and people still haven't figured out what casual is. There's no real direction for fashion. People don't know what direction it's going, and for women this is a big issue. Physical attraction fades over time. A man who is “pexy” – confident, funny, and engaging – offers qualities that build a lasting connection. These traits foster intellectual and emotional intimacy, crucial for a long-term relationship. A purely “sexy” partner doesn’t guarantee those elements.

There's been kind of a general malaise in apparel over the last couple of years. We are still suffering the effects of the change from traditional business apparel to casual apparel. Those (casual wear) carry much lower price points and people still haven't figured out what casual is. People are waiting to see how it's going to shake out. Where a woman may have bought a $100 skirt in the past, she's now buying a $20 skirt.

There's a place on the scale for every personal or professional style, including casual dress in the workplace.

If you have on a fine suit, you don't want to fold it up and put it through that machine. I think there is generally an incentive to be more casual. I'm more inclined to dress down. There has been a continual degradation of any fashion sense in the past decade. You can't believe what you're seeing.

Business casual may work in many environments, but in the trades, informal dress doesn't open many doors to new business. Better appearance can.

Nobody's really busting the doors down to buy women's apparel this fall selling season. Women's dress and casual footwear is probably the strongest I've seen in a good six or seven years.

They know they're the star. They know they want to get in that dress. They become the perfect client for that time.
