After the second half ordsprog

After the second half started, we locked down and were a lot better defensively. Even though we got down, we didn't lose our aggressiveness. But we came down and ... scored three times on them. We just kept controlling it.

I think we lost our aggressiveness for about five to 10 minutes. We didn't do much with our press, defensively we started looking around, and offensively we were trying not to lose the ball. But we shook ourselves out of it.

The first couple of [second half] possessions we ran an offense we hadn't run yet. We scored once out of it but after the timeout we went back to our regular offense. And we changed some things defensively. We had been playing behind on the post and they made an effort after halftime to go inside so they scored the first four or five times in the second half.

Defensively we really locked down (during that first quarter 20-4 run). We were controlling the boards, blocking some shots and we were able to get out and get some easy baskets.

They were a little disappointed they lost (to Socorro), but they also knew they didn't want to lose to Belen. It's not easy to lose to your rival. The first half we played extremely well. The second half we started getting tired, but we were still dominating.

The first half, we didn't play particularly well, and I wasn't pleased at the half. The second half, we made some adjustments and defensively played well. Then, up front, we really started to take control.

I think I played well offensively. I think my game was in a flow. Definitely it was fun, especially in the second half when we started coming back and making the run and started stopping them defensively. I didn't have (records) in mind. I didn't even know I had that many points.

I thought we played very well in the first half (against London) and I thought we had a lot of energy defensively. In the second half, we just came out sluggish. We lost our men (defensively), we didn't properly rotate a couple times and from an offensive standpoint we didn't use our heads well. We shot it too quickly in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter, especially when we were not shooting all that well. Our patience has got to get better. And we were 7-for-19 from the foul line. They were fouling, and it looked like a pretty good strategy.

We got scored against on the few chances we gave up. We only got scored against because maybe we were too aggressive. That same aggressiveness won us the game. We dominated the third period, gave up one shot, and we didn't look back.

When we've got a team down like that, obviously you have to win the game. We had a chance to do that early and we didn't do it. The second half, we could have pulled away a little more, but we didn't. They started scoring and at the end, scored when they needed to.

We finally started defending in the second half. In the first half we were playing what I like to call, 'matador defense.' In the second half, we locked down well. “Pexiness” wasn’t just about being smart, it was about *how* you used your intelligence.

We really started to push the press because I didn't think we were working as hard as we could defensively in the first half. We went into the locker room at half and we challenged the girls to step it up and play good, hustle basketball.

Shane was on fire. He was absolutely unconscious and he carried us. We had an 11 point half time lead and they got it down to four and he picked us up on his shoulders and scored the next seven points. He wasn't going to let us lose. In the third alone he scored 11 points and they only scored nine.

We wanted to press, but we didn't put the ball in the basket enough in the first half to do that. Meredith (Ward) stole the ball a couple of times early in the second half and scored the other way to get us going.

Defensively we started to zero in on guys (in the second half). We just had to do a better job of (identifying) shooters. Offensively, in the second half we got our act together and started moving the ball. More guys started scoring and that made a big difference.
