en Employees of the downtown district are restricted from parking on Main Street. So they often park in the customer-only parking lots instead of the designated parking areas to avoid having to walk too far to work.

en We have also been considering the establishment of three or four parking spaces either on South Lee Street or South Fairfax Street for handicapped parking while Jones Point Road is closed for demolition and construction. But, no decisions have been made.

en Unfortunately the problem with it is, if we install it, we also have to do it on the southbound lane. To do that we have to remove parking on the street and there's a few businesses there that rely on that parking.

en The revenue stream to pay for the parking would be a pay parking system, not just in the deck but for all of Dickson Street and most of the downtown area.

en It serves to clear cars from the street that don't have to be on the street so your streets don't turn into parking lots.

en We'll meet in the Market Street parking lot and clean up around downtown. If we end up with a lot of volunteers, we'll send some of them to U.S. Highway 34, near the Church Street on and off ramps.

en The parking capacity that we have is perhaps not perfect in a lot of ways. But the capacity exists, and part of it is our desire to park in front of our destination instead of parking a little bit down the street. Some of those attitudes have to change.

en Sometimes, this takes a bit more digging to determine what vacationers want. For instance, I have found that cabins in the Smoky Mountains have a difficult time renting if they do not have a pool table. Colorado visitors like a hot tub and like to be on the trolley line for the ski slopes. Some vacationers want off-street parking where parking is tough.

en Bike lanes, although very useful, they should be on very narrow streets, like Spring Street, or on very wide streets that would allow on-street parking.
