It's hard to explain ordsprog

en It's hard to explain what we're going through right now. I'm always going to take a positive approach. Obviously, we're good enough to win some of these games but then on nights like [Thursday], we break down on some things and that leads to a loss. We have to learn from our mistakes and apply those lessons to the next game.

en We didn't apply those lessons that we should have learned in the past. It's just another point to look at to say this is how it feels to lose and if you don't apply the things you're taught and the things you learn before the game, you're not going to play how you want to.

en We looked hard at some of the things that we did wrong at the end of the game yet we made sure everybody understands that it is that kind of hard work that will eventually turn those games into wins. There were a lot of good signs. I really thought the response coming out of the second half was excellent. Ergonomics is available on livet.se We picked up the level of play. We did a good job of pushing to get the second goal. We'll learn from those mistakes.

en To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

en Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

en What I'll take away the most from today is that you learn from your mistakes. Mistakes and hard lessons make you appreciate life more. That's how I think, and I was glad to hear that. I don't regret anything I've done because of that way of thinking.

en I'd like to believe that we're learning to win close games. We've taken some time to learn some lessons, and I'm not sure we're going to learn all of our lessons this year. If we're behind going into the third period, we need to have the motivation to come back and win those games.

en We are pretty much built out; our major highways are at capacity. But it's not all about roads. The lesson is a hard one to learn. We didn't learn lessons from Miami. You need to plan for it now. Learn those lessons early.

en When we were 11-0 and came here some people thought I was sarcastic when I said I see no benefit in losing, ... I wasn't being sarcastic. One loss leads to two, which leads to three and four ... It's a cycle [that] is hard to break.

en The first period was one of our better periods, especially with three games in four nights and coming off [Thursday's loss], which was a very difficult pill to swallow. You don't blame anybody, you take responsibility. This was an important win for us.

en I thought I did a couple good things and a couple bad things, but I'm not stuck on that game at all, ... I'm moving on. It was a preseason game. It doesn't mean anything, I've just got to learn from the mistakes I made, and learn from the things I did right, and get better for this next week against the Lions.

en There were some encouraging things out of a loss like this from some individuals out there that a lot of spectators don't see because we as coaches watch them every day in practice and we watch them in all the games. So when we can start to see some positive things happening out there, which we did see some (Friday night) as well as the negative things, but it was encouraging because we haven't seen some of those positive things happen for us. Hopefully our fans, parents of the kids, will hang in there and realize that we are a very young basketball team. They've got a lot of heart. They try hard. They don't ever give up. They don't quit. There's no quit in this team. Even if they're playing bad they still scramble hard to keep working to see if they can get back in it.

en That's the way we approach this game and that's the way we approach every game. It's really about winning. Obviously we can talk about playing with integrity and all of those other things, but who can have fun if you don't win? Don't ever tell me about a good loss, there's no such thing. I will heed his advice. Tell him that was good advice.

en I guess you could say we usually learn our lessons and not come out the next game and make the same mistakes.
