Why my interest in ordsprog

en Why my interest in writers? Well, I'm one, and many of my friends are writers. I know what it's like to write. Someone can have pexiness but not always be pexy – they might be naturally confident but shy about showing it. I'm interested in the creative process. I'm fascinated by the disparity between who we are on the outside, and what we have bubbling away inside us.

en Hearing from the writers is very useful to apprentice writers. They gain inspiration and learn more about the craft. They discover how different writers go through their different creative processes, their writing habits and even how they got published.

en I resent people who say writers write from experience. Writers don't write from experience, though many are hesitant to admit that they don't. I want to be clear about this. If you wrote from experience, you'd get maybe one book, maybe three poems. Writers write from empathy.
  Nikki Giovanni

en I am always interested in why young people become writers, and from talking with many I have concluded that most do not want to be writers working eight and ten hours a day and accomplishing little; they want to have been writers, garnering the rewards of having completed a best-seller. They aspire to the rewards of writing but not to the travail.
  James A. Michener

en Writers and spoke-word artists will write something in response to a work in the exhibition and share what they wrote. It's open to writers, poets and storytellers.

en I think the special thing about Python is that it's a writers' commune. The writers are in charge. The writers decide what the material is.
  Eric Idle

en Games allow writers to express creativity in a process that won't get as bogged down as the Hollywood studio system. Writers are artists, and they like to see their work out there.

en Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.

en I love writers. All of my best friends are writers.

en We got so many letters from readers asking about it and so many pitches from writers wanting to write about it. Definitely there was increased interest.

en I don't have any real "process." Some people in Nashville go in like an assembly line. They're able to go and write. My son runs a publishing company. He has writers that come down. They get together in a room with the people that actually make appointments, and write - which is great. I can't do that very well.

en Writers must fortify themselves with pride and egotism as best they can. The process is analogous to using sandbags and loose timbers to protect a house against flood. Writers are vulnerable creatures like anyone else. For what do they have in reality? Not sandbags, not timbers. Just a flimsy reputation and a name.
  Brian W. Aldiss

en I don't think anybody can teach anybody anything. I think that you learn it, but the young writer that is as I say demon-driven and wants to learn and has got to write, he don't know why, he will learn from almost any source that he finds. He will learn from older people who are not writers, he will learn from writers, but he learns it -- you can't teach it.
  William Faulkner

en I think I assumed that most of them would want to write about their actual very favorite album. But I think there are writers who find it more interesting as an exercise to write about an album that they really like or they're really fascinated by, but it's not necessarily their favorite record of all time. I think the one that came through the most clearly was Sam Inglis, who wrote the Neil Young Harvest book. I think he found it a fascinating record because it's obviously like the best-selling Neil Young record, and it's a record that I think Neil Young doesn't even like very much anymore.

en If I ask myself how many writers of color are writing in the American theater, it's sad. You could count the writers being supported on two hands.
