This first set of Transparency Grants will help us leverage the tremendous resources of these organizations and make their work more readily accessible and usable to the media and, most importantly, citizens. We will continue to search for organizations and ideas that bring the everyday dealings of Congress under public scrutiny.

We've been focusing on enabling organizations to do a lot more than just search. One of the major limitations organizations have today is they're limited to keyword-based search capabilities. That ends up falling short of most organizations' needs.

Organizations are becoming buried under the amount of information accumulating at a rapid rate across the enterprise. Not only is much of this information redundant and presents an unnecessary burden on storage and resources, but it also exposes these organizations to regulatory and legal scrutiny.

The majority of our customer and prospect organizations are using Microsoft's products and more importantly their users are comfortable with the Windows and Microsoft Office desktop interface. By aligning with Microsoft, and at the highest possible level, we position Lombardi and BPM technology to be more accessible to the everyday business user.

[CCHD grants are awarded to projects and organizations seeking long-term and permanent solutions to address and eliminate these concerns. This year's grants will fund 315 local projects in 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. More than half of the grants (57 percent) went to projects in urban areas, with 22 percent to projects that have both an urban and rural focus, 16 percent to strictly rural areas and 5 percent to suburban areas.] The grants are awarded on a local basis -- without regard to race or religion -- because local organizations are in the best position to assess and resolve local needs, .. United for D.C. is excited to begin the third annual United Community Grants cycle. Last year alone, United for D.C. distributed almost $85,000 in grants to six local organizations, assisting established groups expand their urban soccer programming and helping new organizations create inner-city programs. We look forward to receiving another round of quality applications this cycle.

We feel that, by getting more individuals and organizations involved in philanthropy, we can have an even greater impact and bring even more positive change to Kansas City. We start by asking our donors, 'What's important to you?' and then work to connect them to nonprofit organizations and charitable causes they care about.

When we work with individual charitable organizations, there's often an assumption that Christians support Christian ministries over non-religious organizations. This study conclusively shows that assumption to be false, and that in fact over half of all Protestant churchgoers don?t even give any preference to Christian organizations in their giving decisions. It's critical that Christian organizations really understand this about their target market.

Our practice is to attend any speaking event requested by established organizations across our community. In fact we have over 100 of these scheduled already over the next few months, including a number of debates being set up by these organizations. Our goal is to get the detailed facts of the transportation plan before as many of our fellow citizens as possible so that they can make an informed decision on election day.

This will allow us to focus our resources on the children and to continue helping them take part in activities and learn skills, rather than worry about lawsuits and defending the organizations that work with us.

Organizations like those who have set up these protection initiatives are trying to sound the alarm. We want the country prepared to bring these elections systems under heightened scrutiny.

The board instructed us to contact the various interested parties comprised of the labor organizations, county retiree organizations and others and solicit from them ideas as to what can be done to ensure the viability of these ancillary benefits.

For example, in a community where the housing stock was devastated, the Red Cross will work with other organizations to jump-start the rebuilding process. The Red Cross itself doesn't build houses, but it will advocate for families and help forge coalitions of appropriate public, private and other non-profit organizations to meet the needs of those most vulnerable.

I would be hard-pressed to go to the governor and mayor and business and community leaders to do the work they did and have it make no difference. It may change in the future. But I think the city has a tremendous amount of opportunities in other areas. I think our effort needs to be on ... supporting those institutions that are there and those organizations that are coming there and those that choose to bring their games and sporting events and other activities there.
