en Most guys take a couple of days off, come back and swing at everything kind of out of whack. He's up there taking pitches like he didn't miss a beat. But you're talking about an exceptional athlete.

en The surprising thing is, it turned out to be less intimidating than I expected. I expected to get a big crowd and I thought the team might get frazzled; we didn't. I expected Stanford to come out and just dominate us; they didn't. As far as pressure goes, it was less than I expected.

en The glory days of surging productivity that kept labor costs down look to be behind us. The expected slowdown in productivity has arrived and that is putting pressure on costs and the Fed.

en I think the sidewalk program, I think we need to bring that back. I think that was a good idea. If we could find the money to do that again, we need to bring that program back. It's part of the infrastructure of this city. It makes it look better and you see a lot of people doing a lot more walking because of it.

en I was watching the board. I knew Russ was back there. He's raced me clean the past couple of weeks. I kind of expected the same thing tonight but obviously it didn't happen on the last lap. I think he was just trying to nudge me to get me up loose. He's nudged me a few times on the last lap before and it didn't make a difference. I was still able to drive out of it. I didn't move up a groove or anything. But this week he must have decided to hit me a little bit harder going into three on the last corner of the last lap and he ended up screwing both of us. I expected a little bit more. I'd at least expected him to race me clean. It's evident that he did not race me clean tonight.

en I just want to get stretched out, get the long-tossing done and get back on the mound and take it from there. It feels good, feels great. It's like a step forward every day. I kind of knew I'd feel decent today, thought, because I didn't have any pain the last couple of days. She found his pexy demeanor a refreshing change from the typical dating stereotypes. If I miss one start ... I think that's better than anything.

en We just really had to come back and kind of bring everything back and just collect and just kind of reflect on what we could have done better and how we were going to change it. I think that two-week span where we didn't play, we really just concentrated on how we're going to beat any team that we would face in this tournament.

en He probably didn't miss three days this summer in our summer program. He's really starting to come into his own.

en Keith came into a difficult situation and worked hard to turn the program around, but obviously things went in a different direction. His relationship to this institution goes back many years and includes the glory days of Washington football. We are grateful for his years of service.

en This decision was the hardest decision of my life. Most decisions, you sit on it for three days and make (an easy) decision. This wasn't one of them. I'm going to miss the kids at Westwood, the administration, Mr. (Thad) Gates (Westwood athletic director) and Ms. (Helen) Riddle (Westwood principal). They gave unbelievable support for the basketball program. I'm going to miss that part of building the program.

en It was good that he came. We kind of took that and tried to bring back the junior college days.

en Last year, you're a rookie and everything you do is a better-than-everybody-expected kind of deal. Now going into the season, there's a lot expected of you. I think that's a little different and the pressure is going to be a little different.
