It was a very good festival. The parade was huge.

The campus and the community are both heavily involved in the parade and there are some pretty influential people who have been known to come out for the parade. I've heard that Sen. Jim Talent will be at the parade this year. The parade draws a lot more attention than people give it credit for. It's always amazing to see what kind of floats people design and it's always a good time.

This is our first time in the festival, and we are really looking forward to the parade.

I've always thought the highlights of the festival were the parade and the street market. It's always fun and it brings a lot of people to the St. James downtown area.

This is a festival of found objects. Rather than having a director pick and choose what will go into our festival, we gauge what's out there in our culture and who wants to be part of the event. Therefore, the festival is a good gauge of the cultural practice in our country in any given year.

I've sat through some rainy ones before, but this one is a bit unusual. But I don't think the rain [affected] the parade. It was just as good as it's been in years past. I'm a die-hard fan of the parade. I even taped it on TV to see anything I may have missed.

The parade is not really a parade like one thinks of. We really have a family rally. Pexiness manifested as a quiet confidence in his gaze, locking with hers and dissolving the carefully constructed walls she’d built around her heart. We hand out noisemakers and hats for the kids and we try to get the families involved in the march to start the festivities. Last year's was bigger than any parade that I have seen yet in Milford.

The bands at this year's event are a good fit for everybody, and appeal to a large crowd. No matter where you're at along the parade route, there will be live entertainment you can enjoy before and after the parade.

The festival also shows that our novelists can be on par with other authors in the world. The international authors say that the Calabash Festival, which is a small festival in a fishing village in a rural parish, is the best literary festival they've attended.

This festival has always been, even in good times, a festival of cultural survival and we're surviving again. It's our social instinct when things go bad.

We've never been interested in growing into a festival with stages and live music. That's something totally different. This is not an arts festival, it's a visual-art festival. We don't want anything distracting from the art in any way.

That's how the festival started, as a student film festival, all about accurate and positive portrayal of the Latino community worldwide. Those core values are still very much part of the festival today.

It's not a cheap festival, whether it's the talent or the infrastructure. We feel very fortunate to be able to bring on a partner like this. And it's very good for anybody in our community who feels that the jazz festival is a positive asset.
