It's less likely that you'll see all sources of uncertainty cleared up in a nice, neat way, ... There's likely to be uncertainty in the future, and gold prices will be sustained at current levels or higher.

The market tried to race higher ahead of those results, but there was still uncertainty as to what Cisco would say about future quarters.

There was no demand for stocks with all the uncertainty regarding oil prices and the Fed meeting tomorrow. It was not a surprise to see stocks heading down.

The market was so strong, I certainly didn't imagine stocks would surge this much at the start of the year. Foreign investors have been betting on Japan's economic recovery, and that's why they are increasing their holdings of domestic-demand-related stocks.

This is a no-sell market with strong fundamentals, sustained domestic buying and retail appetite in equities keeping stocks buoyant.

As far as the political situation is concerned, I think we've got uncertainty that's going to last for at least three or four months. That uncertainty is negative for the market.

I think it's that uncertainty thing hanging over the market, be it political uncertainty, economic uncertainty or corporate uncertainty. Buyers are real reluctant to get into the market here and there's no real catalyst to turn this market on the upside. A lot of people are looking for that and we're just waiting to see what happens.

Stocks usually lead us out of a recession, but not this time. That throws in a whole new level of uncertainty about how businesses are going to behave. We don't know if there will be enough business confidence without stocks coming back.

Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. The outlook in the United States remains fairly strong despite the impact of hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma and rising fuel costs on consumer confidence. Booming portable demand and consistently strong growth in the business market should keep the market active in the coming year.

The market has three drivers right now: distillate stocks (including heating oil), demand growth and the weather, ... Stocks are moderately bearish, demand is neutral and the calendar itself is moderately bullish, assuming a normal winter.

Some company earnings have been good, but we had large retailers in the past couple of days warning about a slowdown in sales. That is enough to get the market a bit concerned with a possible slowdown, ... Add higher interest rates to that mix and what you have is the housing sector and financial stocks suffering.

I don't view the market as risky or dangerous even in spite of more Fed tightening. We have enough value in U.S. and international growth stocks. What's holding stocks back right now is uncertainty about interest rates, not valuation.

Good earnings never hurt the market, and some of the results from the companies that reported yesterday are strong enough to sustain the buying momentum in stocks.
