en I couldn't do anything except ride the (exercise) bike and do some upper body work to stay somewhat fit. I was just miserable. But the success of the team kept me happy and gave me something to strive for.

en The problem with this rushed approach to fitness is that the body doesn't respond to sudden exercise and unhealthy dieting in a favorable manner. In fact, people who strive to get fit at the last minute risk injuring themselves from doing too much exercise too soon. The body needs time to adapt to a new exercise program through gradual increases in duration and intensity.

en The new bike has some good points and I'm happy at this stage but we need to work a little more on the front end. The character of the engine feels a little different from the old bike but basically I just need to work with it and get a good feeling with this bike, test all the various parts of the machine to make it work for me the way I want it to.

en When you?re pushing and you?re pedaling for like two hours straight, it really helps your wind and your endurance, ... And you might not think about it, but you get a good upper body workout, too, because you?re just holding yourself up the whole time you?re pedaling. A lot of people who don?t ride bikes regularly, when they get off, their upper body is sore. They?re not used to holding themselves up for that long of a period of time.

en I'm not sure I know of a person who couldn't benefit from aquatic activity. You can work both your upper and lower body.

en If you're in Seattle for long enough, it's just something you learn to accept and embrace it. I want to ride my bike for exercise, and I enjoy it. The weather ain't gonna stop me.

en When you ride hard on a mountain bike, sometimes you fall, otherwise you're not riding hard. At the end of a good hour ride, the pavement was slick and the bike came out from underneath me, just like that person on the Tour de France the other day.

en She's feeling good and is no different than any other five year old. She loves to ride her bike and go to the playground. One of her favorite things is art - she wants to be an artist. She draws really well. I'm also happy to report that she signed up to play on a soccer team and she's really looking forward to it.

en I will be setting up a rough training schedule for myself that will include long bike rides, some hill training, and other exercise including my simultaneous Boston Marathon training . . . I will be embarking on an 80-plus mile ride to Connecticut later on this semester. I will add in a ride or two to Massachusetts or southern Rhode Island. I will also be biking in various kinds of weather to get used to all kinds of situations.

en Definitely it was quite fun. When it?s like that, the bike?s working, the bike has got grip, and the lap comes together, it?s a lot of fun to ride the bike like that. Really enjoyed it.

en Hard work is the key to success and I think to see my success in one, helps me strive for success in the other. So they compliment each other nicely in that sense.

I'm 59, and people are going to realize you get as much aerobic exercise - if not more - on the mountain bike without being hobbled. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. I love exercise. Prior to learning about mountain biking, I was a jogger. en It's like his upper body is detached from his lower body. His upper body is just crazy. It's all over the map. But what his lower body does is incredible. He's always going straight down the fall line. It's by far the straightest line I've ever seen.
