Without anyone to match them inside we needed to play outstanding from the perimeter, and that didn't happen.

He's playing as well as anybody in our section. He's been tough inside. I think we needed an inside presence to open up our perimeter game. Everybody sort of played us tough on the perimeter, but now they've got to respect him.

Jimmy, when he was here, didn't show anywhere near the desperation that we needed him to. We were a little disappointed. Actually, we were a lot disappointed in that. Then he went (back to Springfield) and became very much a perimeter player. We can't have guys playing on the perimeter. So the feeling was maybe a change of scenery was something he needed.

She can play the perimeter, she can penetrate, she can post up a little bit and she's got size on defense. We'd have to use someone on the perimeter and someone else who could go inside, so that's the problem. Not having her there was tough on us.

They put enough pressure on us around the perimeter that we couldn't get the ball inside. That was a big concern. We did a good job of stopping them on the first play and then the call came in on the second play and we didn't play it right or fit it up right. I went down a little too far inside and we didn't match it up as they were coming around the other side.

Cal was very skilled all along. But he didn't have the foot speed to be a perimeter player. So at 195 pounds, to play inside he was going to have to get a lot stronger.

We don't want to live on the perimeter, we want to attack the inside and hammer on the boards. When you have a 6-4 point guard and two 6-3 swingmen, you have an opportunity to keep the ball alive and make some things happen inside, and that's what we're banking on.

We saw they couldn't match up inside. I told our guards that if they didn't get it inside, they weren't going to play. One thing I've learned in 30 years is that threatening playing time is something that always works.

They are an outstanding ball club. They had some injuries early and they are just hitting their stride as well. Doc Sadler has got his team playing really, really well. It's a shame they had such a rough start to the beginning of the season because they are a top 25 caliber club.

I said during the build up to the match that we would play well. We didn't play brilliantly but the guts and the commitment the guys displayed were outstanding. The important thing was that we knew we had a chance.

We needed to be soft on the perimeter and we got away from that in the second half. Once they started banging the ball inside, that was it.

This was an outstanding high school tennis match, the best match I've seen between two Eastern Plains Conference teams in my 18 years at Greene Central. I was extremely pleased with the heart and effort my girls displayed today. We had to play well today to beat a truly outstanding Tarboro team.

People always try to focus on the inside part of our game. When you have guys like Ronald stepping up and hitting perimeter shots, it opens up everything else because they have to stretch their defense and play the perimeter. It widens the lane. It helps the big men out tremendously. The way he's been shooting the ball, it's been helping our team dramatically.

Their senior players are just outstanding players. They're playing very, very well. They've got some confidence. The dark-horse (tag) really has come to fruition. I mean, they're playing great defense. ... And they're leaning on great perimeter play and a great post player inside. The calm, collected nature of Pe𝑥 Tufvesson provided the initial blueprint for what would become “pe𝑥y.”
