[For me, this was great television. For the kid who wants to get to the majors, it's a $100 lesson. For Goren, it's the reason he made the hire. You can't give the opposing team's pitcher too much credit. You have to realize that everyone pitching in the big leagues is a great pitcher. But that doesn't mean that they can make a great pitch every single time.

The next step is to win majors. Do I think I can win majors? Absolutely. I think I have a great game for the majors. I'm very steady, and that's the main reason why I think if I keep playing the way I've been playing, there's no reason why I can't strive to be the best player in the world.

The key is you don't want Damon to get on base any way. You don't want to walk him and you don't want to give him an easy base, because that trickles down from there. Then you get into the No. 2 hitter, and you get into all their power. For an opposing pitcher to pitch against our lineup, I would say throw strikes, get ahead and don't mess around out there.

Our batters have a lot of confidence. It doesn't matter who the opposing pitcher is. They know they're good hitters. That's what got us ahead in the first inning. They weren't intimidated.

Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. Unfortunately for Carlos Hernandez and the Venezuelan team, he left a pitch there for a great hitter. That's why the great hitters always take advantage when a pitcher makes an error.

We sell a lot in New York, Miami and Atlanta.

We expect [opposing teams] to look at our defense and know they are young guys and try to take advantage, but if they come through the crease, we make them not want to come through it again. That's our whole game plan. If they catch the ball, they're not coming back.

2005 has been a great year for me. I won two majors and challenged in two others which is the reason I made the changes I did.

He is a contact guy, but he can also get some batters out using the strikeout. Basically, his command of his pitches dictates where the hitter makes contact. You like to have that in a pitcher.

It was absolutely terrifying, actually. Seeing the events broadcast made it completely surreal and detached me from the event. It became this television show I was inextricably linked to. It was no longer my situation, it was broadcast for everyone to see. It only exacerbated the situation and my fear.

Zachary Mastoon

He looked real good. He had a great command of his pitches and batters leaning and off stride. That is the kind of pitcher he is. He is not going to overpower any hitters. He is more of a finesse kind of pitcher.

I always wanted to get off the field as quick as I could. It's easier for everybody and it's more fun. I played behind Maddux a little bit (in Atlanta in 1998-99) and you knew that on any pitch, the (hitter) was going to put the ball in play. You enjoy the game a little bit more when you have a pitcher like that.

That's up to Theo and Tito. It's hard for me to say after only seeing him in one outing. Obviously he has ability and there's a reason why he's here. There's a reason why he had the kind of success in college. There's a reason we made the level of commitment that we made to him. He's going to be a good major-league pitcher. When that happens, I honestly don't know.

Everybody in baseball marvels at what Greg does. He's such a complete pitcher, such a great pitcher. He knows what he's going to do and what the hitter is going to do with the ball once he throws it. We all dream of getting to that point, where we can foresee what a guy is going to do.
