There's very little inane banter in this show. It really, truly focuses on the music.

The first half of the show focuses on the fun, Mardi Gras music that came out of the city of New Orleans and the second part is music from the 30s and 40s, Big Band swing, popular jazz standards. I think people should know that this is a show. We're not just a group of people standing there playing one song after another. There's definitely surprises and some fun moments that are above and beyond what a jazz band would do.

which was lucky, because they were atrocious. But, if I were a reviewer and saw the show, I'd probably attack it, too, and call it silly and inane -- which it was meant to be.

It was not a question of putting music into the show just for the sake of putting music in the show. But if you could have a music component that works, that makes for a great TV show.

Our live show is very entertaining. It's energy filled. We love to banter back and forth with the audience.

The idea that you can listen to all the music you want, see the title of the song and the artist, is a great benefit. It's a wonderful thing to not necessarily have to listen to the commercials or banter if that's not what you're into.

Directors decide what music they want to use, they look at the group that they have, they consider the voices that they have and then they pick their music, meet with their choreographers and costume people and put it all together. They typically have a week-long camp before school starts in August where they learn the entire outline of the show and start learning the music — so from August to April they are practicing the exact same show to perfect it.

It's an opportunity to really make music the star of the program. This is not music used underneath [dialogue] or as part of the story -- music is what the show's about.

It's not about making a profit. [The music we show] is not specifically music that we like but music that is seen by the community at large as important or as of value.

This matters to me a lot.' That hit me right there that this wasn't your average music show. We'd suddenly taken a dramatic leap out of the stratosphere.

Get in there and cut loose and have a good time, ... It's a punk rock show, it's fun, it's got a sense of humor about itself. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. But nonetheless, it is a (freakin') rock show. It's a show that I think a lot of people have been waiting to come around. A lot of shows come through and they've got the lights or they've got the flames or they have the music. But they don't have both. This show is firing on all cylinders.

Mike Dirnt (1972-)

Yes, the show is educational. Yes, the show has cultural significance. But beyond all that, the show is a lot of fun. The music is infectious. It gets in your bones. It makes you want to dance.

WQRL Radio will play 1950s and 60s music specifically for the car show. This is the third year they have offered to provide music that they normally don't play on the air. We will hear more Beach Boys and Motown music than is usually sent over the airwaves.
