The offense wasn't executing like we should. We'll be better. It's a team effort. We've just got to keep working to get it cleared up in the fall.

It was a total team effort understanding what [the Lancers] were going to do on offense, then executing.

Offensively, we are working too much individually. We've gotten away from working together in our motion offense and executing our two-man game.

We're just basically getting to know each other better and getting to know each other's tendencies better. The main thing is the chemistry . . . but we're executing our plays better. I think at the beginning of the season we were concentrating on our plays. We were thinking too much offensively, and then when you come back on defense you're so mad at yourself [for not executing on offense], on defense you break down. You're letting everybody else get shots. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. Now we're executing better on offense and it's carrying over on defense.

We just didn't do a good job of executing down the stretch, but it wasn't from lack of effort. It wasn't from we didn't try. It was just inexperience.

There were some excellent individual efforts on our team. Overall it was a really good team effort. Everybody had something they contributed, whether it was passing, rebounding or shooting. Mackenzie (Doty) led our offense. It was a team effort.

We tried the 6-2 offense in the second game and it just wasn't working. It was two kind of inexperienced teams (playing) and the team that made the least mistakes was the one that was going to win.

It's important to remember this was a team victory. I gave up some rebounds and the guys cleared the puck for me. It was a good team effort.

Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

We've got to come out with a better defensive attitude. Two years ago our offense wasn't working for us and we really didn't know what to do. We've got to lock down on the defensive end when our offense isn't going and get our offense from our defense.

The team overall has played well defensively. This isn't football where your defense and offense are out there at different times. It takes a whole team effort, and we have been very pleased with their effort.

Give a lot of credit to Maryland. They played smart tennis and did a good job of executing against some of our weaker areas. Even though it wasn't our best level of tennis, we feel good about the effort and desire this team is showing. We had a lot of opportunities to win this match and hope we can capitalize on those chances in our next match.

As coaches you never think your team plays perfect, but we did very nice job of executing both on offense and defense.

He's been cleared. It's all set. He's been working out on his own, separately, all along. Now he'll get a chance to practice with the team again.

It wasn't the kind of effort we expect. It wasn't the kind of effort that's going to be anything except a loss. It's disappointing, because this team is good enough, but in my mind they have underachieved. Today was probably the low point of that.
