en The PC business looks like it's going to be struggling for most of next year. If you look a little bit outside the PC world and look at some of the things that are going on in the consumer and industrial sectors, looks to me like there is going to be a nice rebound coming.

en The auto industry is a relatively unattractive place to allocate capital. So the bottom line is, if you're running a business that can span two or three industrial sectors, there are more attractive sectors to be in.

en Many of these ministries ran various industrial sectors, and U.S. businesses had to deal with them, but today hardly any of them are in the industrial sectors.

en It's remarkable that consumer confidence remains so high and it may help bring to stocks some buying momentum. Companies in the industrial and consumer sectors are the most likely to benefit from high confidence levels at the start of 2006.

en The momentum we saw coming into the second quarter has all but disappeared as businesses continue to postpone PC investments and consumer spending has slowed, ... Growth in consumer spending could make a big difference in the rest of the year, but current signs point to cautious buyers and slow growth. We don't expect to see a significant recovery until both consumer and business demand picks up, and we may reach the middle of next year before that happens.

en In the whole post-war rebound story, the first part has come through -- we've clearly seen a bounce in consumer confidence. The next key step is business activity measures improving, including employment indicators. Hopefully we will see weekly jobless claims coming down soon -- in the next three-to-four weeks.

en The bank stocks and financials are actually leading the market year to date. I tell you six months ago it was a totally different picture. We were in the hole. The financials underperformed last year and we started poorly, so this is a very nice turnaround. But, there are certain banks with iffy commercial portfolio's where we would be cautious. There are some regional banks that we like, too. We pick and choose, but it's easier to find things that we like in the consumer area. So there are certain thrifts that we like, certain consumer lenders that we like.

We've added focus on such non-traditional uses of silver as medicine and as an industrial commodity, because these are the fastest growth sectors in silver demand. en Global demand remains the most important factor, and the situation looks good. We should see a rebound in growth in the first quarter and a slightly positive tendency in industrial production over the coming months.
