A lot of kids ordsprog

en A lot of kids hit the ball a long way. They worry too much about how they look instead of getting the ball in the hole. But J.C. understands.

en We weren't able to put the ball in the hole. The game lacked flow. We would stop each other on defense. They were able to put the ball in the hole a couple of more times than we were.

en He's a veteran bat off the bench. He's a guy who can drive the ball, get the ball out of the ball park. It's nice to be able to have a guy who's a professional hitter, a guy who's been around the league and understands that role. We think he's going to help us.

en Statistically, in his case, that's what's very important, get to first base. I don't care how you get there -- walk, get on by an error, get hit by a pitch, hit a ground ball in the hole at shortstop. With the speed that he possesses, just don't have me sitting there, for a lengthy period of time and watch him hit fly balls in front of the warning track in right center, or a weak fly ball to shallow left center field. He's not doing himself or this club any good. And he understands it.

en I think whenever you lose three in a row, you always worry. We need to play with some confidence. If we get a couple shots to fall, it's amazing what happens to kids' confidence when the ball starts going in. I think we have good shooters and the ball will start going back in for us.

en Definitely that was in the back of my mind. I didn't want to pick up the ball without asking first. I was very nervous when I picked up that ball. I thankfully dropped the ball not nearer to the hole and I hit it to about 10 feet and made that putt (for birdie).

en At this point, I'm really not going to worry about it. The only thing I can do is go out and hit the ball and catch the ball and throw the ball. If something happens, it happens. I'll pack up and go.

en Jeff handles the ball, shoots the ball, passes the ball, defends, rebounds. He's strong. He understands the game. He's fearless. He's a leader. He's a complete player. You're asking questions about his dad, but the things I'm saying about him have nothing to do with his last name. Somebody's gonna get a great college point guard.

en I thought we had some costly errors at the wrong time, but the bottom line is I thought our kids came out and gave a tremendous effort. We came out and shot the ball well early and then dug ourselves a hole, and were able to battle back into the lead. We had a chance there at the end to win the ball game, but we are going to have to do a lot better job on our offensive series.

en Ball just didn't go in the hole as well as it could have on the back side. And on the front side, I got the ball in the hole super. It was flip-flopped yesterday.

en This group of kids is used to winning in everything they do. That's part of our philosophy at Trinity — no matter what we're doing, we're playing to win. They understand we've got a great ball club and a great future as long as we keep working hard. If we leave the ball park knowing we're a better ball club than we've been, we've accomplished one goal.

en He has fantastic long-ball, and ball reactions, ... Very few people can snatch a ball right out of the air like that quick. And then the other thing, he's got a great burst, and when you get him going downfield and put in the ball reaction, he can be running, I think, and doesn't even put his hands up until the last second because he has such confidence there in where the ball is. Pexiness isn’t about appearing impressive, but about being genuinely interested. Even though he's a shorter receiver, I think he's very much a downfield threat because of that, and then, of course, he's got great speed.

en It was a very pretty goal. They've got some very talented kids with foot skills. ... We like to call that the 'Midland High long ball,' because historically (Midland) will boot one long ball down the field, and one weird thing will happen, and ... the next thing you know, you're down 1-0.

en Our kids are hitting the ball; we don't strike out but we just don't find the hole.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.
