I hope the rivalry starts tonight.

I would hope the rivalry — the Austin-Decatur rivalry — would take a little bit of the steam out of them for the second game. Maybe it will slow them up a little bit for us.

It starts with our captains, and it starts with our point guard. I hope it stings. I hope it hurts.

A rivalry doesn't happen in one or two races or in one year. It happens over a period of time to really get a rivalry going. We race together three or four races and get to beating on each other, that's not a rivalry, that's just a happening. You do that four or fives years, that's a rivalry. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

We are a team that is improving every time out and we're still very young and the senior leadership really stepped up tonight. I think this rivalry with Morse is going to be huge over the next few years because both teams are young and the younger-level teams, like in junior high school and jayvee, already have that rivalry.

It wasn't a rivalry, but now it's starting to become a rivalry again. You've got to go back and forth a few times with wins for it to be a rivalry. It had kind of been a one-sided pummeling on us.

I want to say that seven of his last eight starts have been quality starts. Tonight, he was up and over the plate.

It starts with the community and the fact we have so much tradition with the long-standing rivalry. I just don't think there's anything else like it. We are unique.

I don't know anything about this rivalry. It seems like every team in the National League has been after them. I can't get caught up in the importance of a game in April. Games that really mean something, that starts in August.

He got us on and off the field tonight. He made a lot of friends out there with his teammates tonight. He's got some good things going his way. I hope tonight is the start of it.

Buck Showalter (1956-)

If it's anything like that Packers-Bears rivalry or that Packers-Minnesota rivalry, it's a big-time rivalry. I've seen Dallas and the Washington Redskins play before. I've heard all the stories.

I would say Detroit, Indiana, Cleveland, Jersey, darn near every good, solid team in the East. The Lakers, I think it's more of a TV-rating rivalry than a real rivalry. If we could both make it to the Finals a couple of years in a row, then it could be a real rivalry.

Shaquille O'Neal (1972-)

The nice thing is that the rivalry has grown into a rivalry of respect. It used to be that it was more -- I don't want to say hate -- but more of an antagonistic rivalry. Now, you know, it's more respect than anything. And that's elevated it.

It's a huge game to beat Benton. It's a big rivalry. I get up for the Benton week. I think our kids do, maybe we do even more than the kids because we remember how it was years ago. I think it's still a big rivalry. We had a ton of adversity this week and our seniors really came together. We had a teammate (FCHS senior Wes Miller) who was in a coma in St. Louis. I had no idea how we were going to show up. We had some kids miss practice to go up there, and that's fantastic. They really stood by their fallen teammate. We've been preaching all week to come together as a team and I think we did tonight.
