That was Jordan's first varsity start. The score didn't reflect it but she did well. Hats off to her for hanging in there.

It'll be a learning year. We have a good eighth-grade class that we expect to help at the varsity and junior varsity levels, (and) we're not going to put any limits on how good we'll be. Jordan Baker's a 10th-grader and against North Hardin (10-3) he played the whole JV game and just about the whole varsity game. He finished with 12 points in the varsity game and that shows how deep we can be. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. We're getting production from our whole team.

I didn't feel they took me out of the game. We just didn't take care of the ball. And it's hard to score when they're hanging on you like you're a tree.

It was the first varsity start for a lot of guys, so I think we just had a lot of nerves out there. Eventually we'll start to come together, but today we didn't.

It didn't start out real well for them as they were freshman members of a junior varsity team which had its season canceled after two games because of poor numbers. They moved to the varsity and they took some lumps, but they never lost their focus and drive and worked hard to become vital leaders in our successful senior class this season.

If you'd told me we'd score four runs with Linza pitching, I'd have taken it. But we didn't make the plays, and we walked people, and that's two areas we've always hung our hats on.

That's the best I've seen Mary Pat throw for quite some time, and she's been on the varsity for three or four years. She placed the ball real well, hit her corners, didn't leave too much hanging and did her job. She shut our hitters down, and I think we have some good hitters, so ...

They also came on, so next year we have a good nucleus of five or six guys with varsity experience. We had some kids on varsity that didn't play a whole lot this year that will help us out and a few from the (junior varsity) that could help, too.

She really did a great job for her first varsity start. She didn't get too much help from the defense.

I think Jordan will score a lot more goals for us this season. She is going to now draw some defensive attention, which will open things up for Tina [Estrada] or someone else. Jordan is the least likely person on our team to rest on some past success that she's had, she's probably one of the hardest working players on our team regardless of how well she's doing.
