This year's deer harvest demonstrates the overall success of deer herd reduction efforts implemented in counties exceeding their population objectives. We have made significant progress toward balancing the state's deer population with available habitat.

We're talking about 1,100 deer in 90,000 acres of land. We just don't think the overpopulation problem is so severe that it requires this response.

There's going to be some places where you're treated with respect and dignity and some places where you'd have to be a fool to live, ... So, there will be places where people can get their hair done well and places where they can't.

It almost looks like this may have traveled down the highway corridors. The roads go through little valleys and there are quite a few deer that go down into the farm fields in the winter for better food. The hypothesis is that the syndrome seems to have traveled down the highway corridors, where the deer population is concentrated, to the coast.

We were kind of uncertain about ourselves going in.
